Communications between players outside of the game is not banned but it is discouraged.
Beginning schedule is 5 times a week MTWTF at a 0 GMT or a time to be decided by the players or all turns are in.
Each Player gets 2 48 hour game pauses that they can use if needed.
We will slow down to 3 times a week(MWF) at year 2430.

Chaff.
Split Fleet Dodge.
Repair after gating.
I check for all other know or unknown features.

Your signed up, and yes that is the idea.

I'm looking for something like playing a game against the AI in Stars!, now the AIs are not smart enough, but the people here are. And to be sure everyone plays by the same rules I will be looking over everyone's shoulder, That's why I've limited it to 4 players and special rules.

After looking at some other games I should make this a little clearer.

The Observer race must be set to Friend.

you can't go after the Observer race and kill off his ships and planet, but if two players are having a battle and an Observer ship or starbase is destroyed it's no foul. You shouldn't be able to bomb the Observers planet, as it's set to friend and it will only be using JOAT beginning tech (with added Electronics) so there should be no chance of tech gain.

The planet will have a unarmed starbase and the scouts will be a FM & Fuel pod, Research will be set to Electronics.

And

Quote:
All Battle Orders 'Attack Who' must be set to 'everyone'

is wrong, it should be 'Attack Who' must be set to 'Enemies'

It normally takes about 30 days or less to get to 2430, then it slows to 3 times a week and can take up to 20 more weeks to finish the game. That put you at around 2500. (my best guess-a-mate)

If players want to slow down even more then.....

I'll send mine very soon. I have a few last minute comments... sorry I didn't make these sooner.

1) I may need a few pauses in the 40s/50s (June). My wife is expecting then.
2) How do people feel about public player scores? I kinda like it, but no big deal either way.
3) A request for a slight modification of the no communication rule: How about we have the option of sending messages to everyone, but no substantial diplomacy is allowed? I just like the in-character "Hello, universe!" messages at the start of the game, and the taunts and such later on. I realize there is a grey area here, but people won't be negotiating NAP's publicly.

1. No problem here.

2. Then you'd know how many ships etc I have. You might then see me use most of them in an attack and you suddenly know I'm weak where you'd like to attack! Doesn't appeal to me.

3. In-game messages are already allowed! Either to everyone or to single players. So limited diplomacy is within the game parameters. You are not permitted to coordinate action, agree NAP's etc. You are only asked not to communicate outside the game ("Communications between players outside of the game is not banned but it is discouraged."). Not readily checked, but if you start acting as though you were receiving information you shouldn't have for example, the host would probably take exception.

leonidas.

1. Thanks.

2. Ok, that makes sense.

3. Hm... if NAPs aren't allowed, what sort of limited diplomacy is allowed?

All race files are in, I will have it done on Monday and have the files to you and Ron by the end of the day if nothing goes wrong.

You can send messages to one another, share intel if you wish, You can't

Plan Ship movements together, because everyone is set to enemy this would defeat it's purpose. So if I see two players in the same system of stars and their ships never interact I will send off a warning or worse.

And be careful sharing intel, as you never know if it good intel or if your being set up

I can't check out of game messages, so your on the honor system there. I will be doing a quick scan of every turn and a more in depth look about every 5 years or so.

I will look into any complaints but don't ask me what's happening in the game, I'm like Sargent Schultz, "I know nothing".

Hello All,

The game files have been send to Ron and I send the .xy & M? files to the players.

I was asked off forum about why I wanted the players race password during the game?

I'm trying to make this a fun game where all the players know that it's a level playing field. In order to check for all the possible cheats I have to look at the .m? files and compare them to previous ones. It's a pain, but I've been thinking about this for a while and it's all I could come up with.

As the Host I will
Never reveal anything about your turn.
Never make any suggestions to a player.
Not release any information about the game without the approval of all 4 players even after the game is over.

If you need a pause of up to 48 hours, just ask, we can do longer ones but I try to avoid them.
If you need to stop playing for whatever reason, please let me know and I will find a replacement or set your race to inactive

Edit:P.S. 7 days from first post to sending the files, that's not bad
