If you want to avoid the classic game-killer of having the two strongest contenders ally each other and steamroll everybody else, here's the only rule I've seen work as intended: "Player #1 and #2 MUST be at war ALWAYS, regardless of previous status, NAPs, etc, effective as soon as possible." Dueling

Interesting and devious. (tries to come up with a plan to stay #3 until the endgame then jump ahead)

Interesting indeed...
Apart from using this here (I vote yes), it might also lead to the basis of a new game..

#1 and #2 always at war with each other
#3,#6 attack #1
#4,#5 attack #2
#6 is not attacked and he can attack anyone Razz

Instead of having PPS on, have the host inform the rankings every 7 years,starting 2420/25.
3 years of ceasefire to get ships in place after each announcement.
Compulsory attack on atleast 1 world (>certain pop) each cycle with >35% of your fleet.
Conquering a world gets a point..
Max points after 10 cycles wins the game?

Now that will be dynamic wars.

perhaps the 7/3 year cycle can be increased to 12/3 years instead.. with 5-7 cycles to decide the winner, starting 2425...

Hi ,

this could be a good idea for a game but not for this one.
Also I dont like to have allies that will attack me in 5 years what dont makes sence to me. Maybe MA and Nmid likes to play that way but
I like to stay with my allies in a game and not to backstab them. So I would not play in a game where you have to do so.

Also is the Score easy manipulated so if you check every 10 years there will not be a score what is real. ( Only works if the check is Random)

For this game :

- against alliance
- against communication
- all set to enemy
- no techtrade

Well, it depends on what these 4 neat little rules want to accomplish. Fake Player Scores can be policed and are usually considered a cheat. Natural-born minions giving a game to the #1 regardless of what all other players do are a sad fact of Stars!-life that can circumvent all rulesets, with the amazing exception of the specific rule I quoted. Rolling Eyes

So much preference for being alone and hostile...

However I think "no comms" might be a bit to harsh, and too tempting to bypass occasionally.

So rules:

- No pre game alliances (given how much you all seem to hate each other that seems fairly obvious Wink )
- No out of game comms (In-game messages are allowed, public and private)
- Standard cheat/bug disclaimer:
- - Split fleet/chaff/heal after gate all allowed
- - Min damage not allowed
- - - No building* alpha/beta ships after [turn 30], or your race has jihad tech. whichever is earlier
- - - To start a second torpedo slot on a SB the first slot must be full
* You don't have to scrap what you already have
(I imagine the Jihad era will precede the time limit)


I'll still ask for a forum for hold/slowdown requests/discussions (hold requests should also be made by PM (the board will email me))

Apologies - lunchtime really didn't work out.

Genning a few years now (a few more to get all sorted, then I'll decide whether to wait for the Genesis Device or not - at this stage probably not*)

Might be of some use...

Use that in tandem with backup=50 and gens of 10 at a go, and u might be able to do it easier.

Hi ,

I would be fine if we start without the GD and there is somewhere A HW for everyone.
As in this game there should be lot of 2 immune AR so there is no much wronge anyway.
( They also take red HW Smile )

I think starting without the GD makes the start even more swingy. Proximity to your actual HW is random, and (for some race designs) is an enormous boon in this scenario.
