Files sent to Ron or are you referring to where you are in the universe creation?

Game (R)on.

You should all have your first files by email as well...

There are some things you should all know - I've been discussing with nmid to make sure I don't completely muck things up, but have let some things slip...

- There are 6 worlds with a handful of factories etc. They have all had their surface minerals removed.
- There are about a dozen worlds which have had comet strikes. These have *not* had their minerals removed*.
- Hoover (In the South West) is out of bounds to all who do not wish to be banned.
- The Observers (player 1) shall remain set as friend - our ships will stay in space and should be avoided.
- Everyone can see between 10 and 20 planets on turn 1.

* Mineral distribution across the universe doesn't look too odd, although there is a long "tail" of rich planets.

I've not yet reread the thread to decide on comms rules. I will do so before gen (not that any offence is possible in year 1)

seems we are in the wrong year.

will download the m file at the game page.

my gamefile is year 2634. Host year is 2633 so I could not submit.

I would need the files for year 2633. Have you all the problems ?

Yes, same problem here, don't know what to do about it

Edit: I downloaded the M file from Autohost and it's for 2634 also.

Right.

The MT was (when I genned) in it's first year in the universe and heading to the centre. But in the version I've just downloaded from SAH I can't see it at all...
It might be that the RNG has removed it from existence...

There was a strong feeling against all sorts of comms and alliances etc.

So FINAL ruleset:
* No pre-game alliances (I hope none of you are in that position)
* No out of game comms (Propaganda and private subspace messages allowed)
* Standard cheat/bug disclaimer (Allow split fleet dodge, chaff, heal after gate - disallow mine damage dodge, min damage)
* Single player victory only (by unanimous vote)
* No trading

Simple majority vote on:
Allow setting people to friend

Simple majority vote on rules to enforce min damage avoidance:
EITHER:
A)
- No building* alpha/beta ships after [turn 30], or your race has jihad tech. whichever is earlier
- To start a second torpedo slot on a SB the first slot must be full
* You don't have to scrap what you already have

B)
- No building ships more than one torpedo tech below your current highest
- No multiple non full torp slots ever

C)
- Just don't abuse it people...

Also, RNG?

Right.
* No out of game comms (Propaganda and private subspace messages allowed)

Nice.
XAPBob wrote on Thu, 14 February 2013 17:37

No planet trading too Razz ?
Clarifying if NAPs are allowed or not?
Friendly movement through minefields allowed or not?

I like option B... though you should change Option A to :
- No building* alpha/beta ships after [turn 30], or your race has jihad tech. whichever is #later#
Not that it's going to really matter with our fast tech. Everyone will have deltas easily enough.
ps - does it make a difference with the limited slots of a station?

Planet trading is part of war, and only part of war. Invasions are allowed, but if invasions of "not quite deserted" planets are seen then this may bee seen as trading.
Obviously invading early colonies is different, but I expect colonies to be made in force fairly quickly.

Not a huge difference, but an US with a handful of betas will do more damage than it should - and also - why would you?
I should probably clarify that I mean you always have the choice of 2 torps and 2 missiles, rather than one of each.

Two torps and two missiles - not one of each.

Actually does min damage matter with Jihads? Do they ever miniturise enough to make a difference?

I didn't quite get where that missing MT went, but not really bothered to look into it.
I'm sure it will be interesting some other time, though... MT message shows, force gen happens and the MT disappears?
No course change or speed change message, so it didn't turn around and go back..

Tempting but it's too tough to police.
People might be tempted to have back channel NAPs or communications going on.
I prefer setting all to enemy.

If someone is a monster, public comms should be enough to reveal the wolf to the other lambs, so to speak.
With our good scanners, it's going to be relatively easy to confirm/rebute propoganda too.
Vote no friend setting.

With regard to the MT it looks like I failed to copy the hst file when I copied the m files into the submission directory.

So the hst file was year x, the m files were year x+1. When I force genned it produced a brand new year x+1 and the RNG didn't generate a MT...

We going to have a topic in the "anything goes" or a sub forum for game chatter?

Limiting comms to once a turn is something that's going to be really painful.
