Well we are a week past the racefile deadline and still missing a player. Do we want to continue with 7 players? Please do a quick yes or no vote. Majority rule on this.

Ok with 7 players to start.

I'm okay to start with 7.

I'd also like ManicLurch to either edit his initial post or add a new one with the current rules mods. Right now the changes in thread from that in the original post include allowing Delta Torpedos (and later Torpedoes as well, I assume) on ships and allowing any Torpedos on Starbases as long as a starbase slot is filled with Torpedoes before starting another slot with Torpedoes. Changing the WM PRT's penalty to only 25 RW points left in Defenses was discussed but not agreed to.

Reading the threads in the Bar I see there's a returning Stars! player: Raindancer.

I've asked him if he's interested in joining SAS7 as the eighth player. I'd like to give him a chance to decide.

Well we waited a few days, neither Raindancer or anyone else decided to join. I am going to use my vote to say that we start with 7, which gives us 4 votes to start with 7, a majority.

Final game rules:

Players: 7 players
Universe: Small, normal, distant, SLOW TECH, ACC BBS, No random events.

Victory: 100% consensus vote from remaining players, alliance win possible (but limited to two).

Schedule: M-T-W-T-F until at least turn 30. Move to M-W-F when at least two players have requested a slowdown.

Race Limitations: ALL races MUST take weapons expensive and the Bleeding Edge Tech LRT. Joat cannot take NAS. Races will be verified by the third party prior to start. Other race restrictions:

HE banned
CA, No OAs or retro bombs. Cannot take TT, 50 points leftover to defenses.

Joat cannot take NAS, 25 points leftover to defenses
IT - 25 points leftover to defenses
WM - 50 points leftover to defenses

Special Rules: NO TECH TRADING ALLOWED. No scrapping, no pop dropping allies for tech gain, no wolf-lamb. You may trade ships to other players, but if scrapping those ships would produce tech gains, they may never be scrapped (design may be deleted, however). Sending an "observer" ship to watch a battle in hopes of gaining tech is allowed, as long as the battle is between enemies. You cannot pop drop an ally to exchange planets, the planet must be vacated and recolonized.

No alpha or beta torps allowed on any ship. Delta torps and up are allowed on ships. All torps are allowed on starbases, but you must fill up a slot of torps on the starbase before adding torps to another slot. Minimum penalties will be the deletion of ships. If this ships caused a battle outcome to be different, or if it was deemed intentional then a banning of turns will be the punishment.

Gaining tech through legitimate battle with enemies (in space or through invasion, pop drop) is allowed and encouraged, however.

NO PRE-GAME ALLIANCES ALLOWED. This ruins the game for everyone.

Cheats allowed: Healing after gating, chaff, split-fleet dodge. All other cheats forbidden (cheap starbases, etc).

Yes, you are the 8th player. Get your race file in to Marduk as soon as you can.

Sprockets in and valid. I will generate the game tomorrow, giving Mac a day to finish his race. Unless he gets it in sometime in the next eight hours or so, then I will generate it today.

Remember, there is laughter in slaughter (and fun in funeral) so get out there and kill, kill, kill!

I wish I had checked my email before going out to run errands; oh well. I have generated the game very carefully to ensure that all eight players get screwed over in some horrible manner, each worse than the last! Muwahahaha! Disco

The new game request, game files, and player/race information have been sent. No telling how long it will take Ron to get to it, but you may rest assured that he and I are working together to maximize the amount of frustration you will want to take out on your neighbors! (Warning: the preceeding statement may contain lies.)

A few last minute things to check on:

Are you all using the JRC4 patch of the game?
Do you all know how to download and upload game files, and for that matter where to do so?
Are you all okay with the other players knowing the email address you used to send me your race files?

#1 v2.6JRC4 check!

#2 Use the web interface or the local client for Autohost.

#3 Doesn't #2 mean this doesn't matter? I'm okay with it.

And now that I think about it...do we need to have password-protected race files? To make sure the .m* files are only readable by Marduk and the particular player?

No - because the upload and download have a password, only you and the benevolent host can access your game files. So no password required for the race files.

I'm glad that I still remember my password!

Regarding email publishing, I'll just preemptively throw mine out. I'm at coyote27 at gmail dot com, or notorious_C27 on skype, if anyone feels like diplomaticising once the game starts.
I'll try to be more respectful of diplomatic convention than the UK these days.Uh Oh

Is it okay if I request the first turn's game files to be emailed out to the players so that we'll have turns ready to go immediately when the game appears on AH? It could save a day or so, and make the anticipation a little easier on us...

So it is! Place your bets, gentlemen!

Would you like me to request a game forum, or no? To me this doesn't seem the sort of game to need one.

Grrr.... Downloaded the files and uploaded my turn via the web interace.

'Cause I can't get the AutoHost Java client v2.2 to work. I've posted a request for help in the "Questions about AutoHost" section.
