Well, just barely in time for March.

The Nova team has been growing lately and we have made substantial progress. In fact we are a little ahead of schedule! There have been several significant additions to both the front end and the back end of the game and a lot of improvements to game stability. With a growing team of keen developers we are now adding final touches to our next release, which I now expect to have out in May. This will showcase our progress so far to the community.

While this release will not be intended as a full game you could play with friends (or enemies) or against the computer, it will allow you to do most of the things you do in Stars!, such as build races, develop colonies, explore and expand. Most importantly it will make it easy for you to test out Nova and give us your feedback.

Thanks for your ongoing support and encouragement, as they are what drives us unpaid programmers! - or is it just the coffee?

3 years ago I lost all the data on the graphics I was making for Freestars Crying or Very Sad

. This project has finally awakened my hobby again and I'm busy redoing *all* the graphics Shocked

You've done an awesome job on the ship graphics ForceUser.

A tiny update on what I've been doing on Nova lately: Support for all Mono platforms (Windows, Linux and Mac OS X). There is still some work to be done, but it's looking quite promising. I've also been squashing various bugs and doing a fair share of project administration stuff such as: Dealing with licensing, copyright, websites, wiki, version control and generally making the lives of the other contributors more pleasant.
