Why not? Some people have designed lots of icons for ships and items, even if they're similar to Stars! original ones. Others have suggested flashy backgrounds as alternative for the usual spread of little shiny dots... Fire bounce

Then there's the race avatars Silly hair , advisor avatars Deal, mood avatars 2 Guns , rank avatars Pirate, animated weaponry UFO and explosions Head Explode...

So many Stars, so few Missiles!
