The Bugs have had another successful year defending Lacon systems.

Garlic: 20+ Lurker battleships were destroyed in their attempted attack on this system. Purple-bug-with-blue-spots Commander of the Cricket armada credited the win to his ships for having destroyed the largest portion of the invading battleships.

Eridanus: As recently reported in the Kaynan Tabloids, the Bugs recently unveiled their newest design, the Cockroach Nubian. This new fleet made its maiden voyage to defend the Eridanus system, and successfully defeated over 100 invading Ellurid and Sofian battleships.

A spokesbug for the BAA (Bug Alliance Administration) was quoted as saying that the Bugs would continue to defend Lacon systems being attacked.

Bug scientists are working to perfect a device that calls new MTs and arranges for them to arrive in Bug space. The device has already been used twice successfully. A new call has gone out and the next MT is expected in year 2469, starting in Bug space and traveling south.

Chief scientist Bluegreen-with-extra-brain-lobe stepped down after acknowledging that the MT calling device is flawed and has failed in the recent attempt to call a new MT. It is postulated that the machine instead caused the current MT to change course, but this also has not been proven.

New research: scientists are trying to determine the truth behind a rumor that the Lacon emit a wavelength of energy that is found annoying to other races of the universe, and may be the cause of so many races wanting to attack them. Successful research could lead to a dampening device which might possibly lead the the first peace the Lacon have known after 50 years of constant wars.

Politics: The new leader of the Ellurid Collective has consolidated his new empire with astounding speed. It is guessed that the fall of the previous leader was due to reports that the Ellurids and Bugs had initially worked together against the Lacon, and that the previous Ellurid leader had in fact paid the Bugs in Electronics technology to attack the Lacon. Bug leaders have acknowledged that there is some truth to the leak, but refused to provide details.

Warship design: Bug ship designer have been snorting up their bug juice after seeing reports that the recently destroyed Ellurid designs were actually built with armor. Bug designers long ago gave up putting armor on warship designs as an inefficient use of resources and minerals. One noted Bug comic is using that in his new routine, stating that it was really just a way forth the Ellurids to donate minerals to the Lacon. It must be noted of course that these designs pre-date the current leader, and were probably authorized and built long before the political changes occurred.

Charity: The annual fun(d) raiser to feed starving -Rancor- orphans will be held at the recently re-inhabited Burrito system this year. All peace loving races are invited to attend. Food will be provided but please bring your own life support. Extra support is needed this year as new orphanages are being built.

Ambassador salaries have plummeted and salaries of tacticians risen dramatically as many races have begun reducing the number of diplomats and increasing their wartime support teams.

Due to a space-time ripple some of the events reported have changed. The Bugs Reporting Association And Team (BRAAT) apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused, though events such as these are not currently under Bug control. Updates are below.

13 Lurker battleships escaped their timely demise by having the good luck of hitting a minefield, and therefor did not show up at the battle of Garlic.

The previous chief scientist has been reinstated to a research position, his future pending further investigation. The new MT arrived in the wrong place, and several years late, but still targeting the calling device. Investigators are trying to determine if the new MT was caused by the device, or sheer dumb luck. It can be noted that several leaders from other universes have previously stated a desire to ally with the Bug leader due to lucky tendencies.

Well, this was a funny regen indeed.
It seems that your device did really work this time!
I myself don't have a cause to complain too, as there was only a 6% chance to hit that minefield what I usually would call bad luck.

Tell me about it. I've run thru countless minefields at 40%+ chance to hit, and the only one I've ever hit so far was at warp 5 with a very low chance to hit on a short travel time...

Go figure. Razz
