Edit: also, I thought it was already said in the game thread that everybody should change their default orders to prevent such problems? If it is the case then it would be no excuse.

I belive you are correct and I agree that it would not be a legitimate excuse I just have a bad habit of playing devil's advocate.

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster...when you gaze long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you.

I'm the one rolling my eyes at you.

I mean seriously, as if you were going to use the built up fleet for anything else, and your reaction once we spotted it betrayed your intent. And as if I was being aggressive with no combat ships.

I have no problem with being at war with you but I do have a problem with you lying about the circumstances causing it.

Except for the fact that you betray the reason I felt war was needed by putting up posts like this. Your in game messages have the same aggressive standoffish nature to them. To be honest I had little knowledge of your military capabilities in one direction or another. My decision was based mostly on the nature of these messages. If you want to "talk tough" you should at least put some thought into how such a posture could affect not only yourself but your allies as well. I have been writing a game log that I plan to put into game stories once this game is over. Only then will you have the right to judge my intentions as they were at any one time.

So, what you're saying is that I'm scary and you're frightened of me?

Lol.

I wasn't "talking tough", I'm just naturally rather curt. I also have an ego problem.

None of which changes the fact that it was you, or more accurately the Sofians, who built up the 100-strong fleet in an attempt at fait accompli, declared war and are now shooting down Maera colonies, or the fact that despite my grudge against the Sofians I had no intention of attacking either of you in the foreseeable future with or without the Maera consenting.

Raindancer: I was doing the same, but lost it when I had to delete my user account to eliminate a virus/spyware.

Agreed, and I think that the other players (at least those that I have had dealings with so far) are playing with both a sense of fun and honor.

I often lose sight of the "fun" half, though I never lose sight of the "honor" half.

I would not call it being afraid so much as I am not really keen on sitting around until someone is ready to take me out. A preemptive strike to take out a growing threat is in my mind a far more sound strategy for survival than defending myself from a fully prepared opponent with a well entrenched production base. Besides that the existence and current use of a fleet does not necessarily indicate its purpose of inception. In my mind the most important component of any strategy and/or tactic is flexability to forever changing conditions.

Indeed you are mostly correct.

You have just agreed with me that you are the aggressor here.

I suppose that depends on your definition of aggressor. He who points his gun first or he who fires first.

Both indict you, as while obviously for me to win you would have to be neutralised at some point, the same can be said of your relations with the Sofians, and I don't see you preemptively attacking them. And there was exactly zero indication of me having any designs on you. Your preemptive strike can be compared to that of the Starways Congress in Xenocide.

Like I said though, I have no problem with being at war with you, especially not in such favourable circumstances as I now enjoy.

Hahahahaha
You kids really want a three player alliance.
Now it is a race to see who can get their ally killed off first.
