for AR? or how do you go about taking advantage of it if you enter a game like that? i've never played with slower tech on before

Slower tech hurts an AR quite a bit, their econ is dependent on energy research. Most races can build up their econ and then plow through the increased tech costs, but AR need to buy tech to get econ.

If you are going to play an AR in a slow tech game, you're going to have to find a trading partner for other techs and just stick to energy, you'll need a good ally to cover you till you can pay them back in minerals, which is going to be a while.

I'm affraid if hurts more. AR's econ depends on too many tech fields:
- energy for pure resources AND terra Sad,
- another field for terra Sad,
- con for better orbitals Sad,
- prop to spread pop as fast as possible Sad,
- elec to start a decent production of minerals Crying or Very Sad, and of course
- weapons techs to stay alive. Crying

And you can't increase your resources' output by building more factories... Crying Crying A rule of thumb: don't play AR in slow-tech games, if there are other PRTs in it.

If you're preparing for the all-AR game Dreamscape, here are some quick tips:
- because of very long distances among planets (sparse uni) will be any PGR over 15% actualy a waste - player will not be able to move excess pop around fast enough to avoid severe crowding.
- ISb and IFE are simply a must,
- energy and con techs cheap are also almost mandatory,
- 1/25 pop divisor and the second immunity actually look like a good decision.

Don't worry, I won't be playing in that game - after I've been told most players there will be intermediate with a beginner or two, I opted out of it.

I would love to get in on more beginner-intermediate games but i can't find any open..which is why i made my own.

And I don't mind having good players slaughter me..might be educational
