The Shadow Alliance seems to be pretty much down or having given up:
* Dilgar: inactive
* Shadow, Independent Mars: 2 missed turns

Seeing the VA's 3rd generation battleships, I fear they will just shredder our Zaidzevs. While our BBs are of a superb design, unfortunately they also taught the VA to create a better BB-design with weap20. The "Low Guard"-BB is a good design and difficult to counter... even if we would be close to weap 20.

Shall we concede victory to the VA?
Or shall we still try to attack via the gates?

btw: From the 12th to the 20th I am away sailing on the Baltic Sea (with obviously no internet connection).

I´m pretty miffed at the SA as well but just for the heck of it I think we should go along with the plan as far as possible, after all we and especially John have put so much work into it we might as well see it through. We definitely gave a good accounting of our selves and just giving up while we´re actually taking back ground in the west seems wrong.

Only problem is that the schedule is already shot to hell because of the missing shadow tech. Sad But even with a delay we should do it and in case we get blasted to bits we can still concede.

Ditto. Don't worry about the work I've done but IMO we DO have a chance. We definately need the large numbers of IA ships planned but if we can assemble them then they might not be prepared for that!

I said the same thing - i.e. if we get decimated we can then concede.

Re. techs: if Shadows are not providing them then I can do Elec12 this year. If Pak can build Con14 lambs ty & research Con15 over the next 2-3 years then the schedule can still work or close to it (but there's no question that we need B-52s to pull it off).

Patrick, it might be a good idea to scan Serapa if possible to check naval buildup there tho.

Have you not checked out the "Spartacus" counter to the "Low Guard" in the "BB designs of the Free" thread? The "Low Guard" is very easily countered using a low-weight, range 3 ship: see below. The "High Guard" is much more difficult tho so I hope the VA concentrate on the Low Guard.

We'll work something out. I'm happy to do at least one turn, maybe both.

My strong preference is for what I will call the "Spartacus":
BB with FM, 16 HB, 4 PS, 8 Gorilla, 3 caps, 3 BSC, 1 OT.
This ship is only 301Kt & so will move last 88.9% of the time, is a VERY efficient Low Guard killer & a good PofS killer. It shoots first against both the Low Guard & the PofS.

Our ships required to kill 50 enemy BBs (marginal victory):
v PofS: ....... Always needs 43.
v Low Guard: If we always stay out of range we need only 18!
.................. If we stay out of range in round 1 but are caught in round 2 we need 38.
.................. If we are caught in round 1 (11.1% chance) we need about 54 (estimate).

Sounds good! As soon as I get the sheilds I'll switch to that design ... in the mean time I might get some tech ... not sure ... need to safe minerals (bor).
Hm, maybe prep some bombers to go through the Dog House gate in 6 years ... though that will cost bor again. <g>

Do we need to bomb/kill the Vorlon HW? Or only orbit? Or even inhabit? Sad

Certainly.
But I can't reach it from the East: around 200ly of minefields. It looks better when approached from the West... but there I don't know which RPs mustn't be moved. Just point me to some RPs or transfer some and I'll try to setup a regular scan-network.

Actually, I've taken a look at Drakh's turn & it seems that he has some cloaked spies headed in that general direction & they are only 100ly or so away - good forethought Drakh!

I will, however, build a couple of RPs & transfer them to SPOO at 98053 for the purpose of watching Magellan.
