I may be missing something obvious here, but I've searched high and low through the autohost related forums and can't find any explaination of the difference between two player status types (indicated by the blue diamond and the pink one) that show in the game pages (where you upload your turn).

As far as I've read they do the same thing.

I also don't understand part of the description of the "pink" status - what does it mean by "House-keeping AI control / CPTR Player"? I don't see any options in the host utility to switch players over to computer control.

In the host utility I would assume the "Player inactive (do not wait for turn)" checkbox activated the blue status, and the "Player banned or dead (inactive and cannot submit turn files)" checkbox activates the grey status. How is the pink status activated?

If anyone could enlighten me regarding these things I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Mr K

Pink status: "Player inactive (do not wait for turn)" box checked, this just means that when all turns are in the game will be genned ignoring if the pink player is IN (light green diamond) or OUT (dark green diamond). There will be no AI taking over his turns.

Blue status: the player has missed one or more turns.

Grey status: you're right that this covers "Player banned or dead (inactive and cannot submit turn files)", it does the same as the pink status but means players can no longer upload their .x file.

Blue just means that their turn is currently out, AND they have skipped the last turn or more. Think of it as same as dark green, but also shows if they've missed the last turn (or more).

Pink (violet sounds so much nicer, doesn't it? Picked those colors so color-blind people would not have any problems) just means one of the following:
1. Player marked inactive by host, AutoHost will not wait for their turn.
2. OR, Player being played by stupid House-keeping AI (set by opening the .hst file in stars.exe, and clicking 'house-keeper AI' for that player).
3. OR, Player is a regular AI player (set when game was created)

Not quite.

In Host Utility, the checkbox 'Player inactive, do not wait for turn' turns on the violet status for that player.

You are correct about gray status.
