Hello,

A few friends of mine, and myself will start a new game. As this will be the second game for most, I rate this as a beginners game. Smile Last time we included 2 AI's for more competition, well rather someone you may hit on and who doesn't care Twisted Evil Well depending on the number of interested people this will stay similar...
*EDIT* Well, with the number of player in, no need for AIs any longer Very Happy

I'd like to encourage diversity, therefor each player should use a different PRT. The order of applying to the game decides on who gets served first.

Exceptions to this rule may be granted for:
- "whacky" designs
- a defined value of leftover points
- uncommon PRT

PRT already reserved: (in order of entering the game)
---------------------
- CA (Centrolino)
- IS (Harjj, READY)
- IT (lord_of_chaos, READY)
- JoaT (svent, racefile corrupt)
- SS (Xardre, READY)
- AR (yartrebo, submitted, need email)
- SD (c64k, READY)
- WM (Gilles)
- HE (ADG_Wraith, submitted, need email)

- "whacky" (Shadow Whist)
- "whacky" (yoey)

Fixed settings will be
- AccBBs
- Normal Tec advance
- Normal size, density
- Distant player position

Hosting:
- Starting as Pbem, eventually moving to AH
- Host will be playing

Players:
- any level of beginner and newbies

Turn generation:
- 24 hours
- Monday - Friday
- slowing down on requests

Victory/Alliances:
- votes are always considered as of all active players
- Last man standing
- unanimous vote
- Alliances are allowed
- Alliances can only win on unanimous vote
- Alliances may only be consisted of half of the number of active players, round down
- No pre-game alliances

Cheats:
- Chaff and split fleet are allowed.
- Anything else is forbidden Wink

Restrictions:
- Joat may not take NAS

Comments are welcome

Ps:
Thanks to Timo for the layout Very Happy

edit:
- JoaT restricted (lord_of_chaos)
- player position (Steve)

Id like to sign up.

But : im rather no begginer : 2 games from Ah forum and few more beetwen friends.
I cant play during weekends so i wish to see weekends gen off.

If i will be signed then im taking Interstellar Traveler for myself Smile

Im reccomending :
Public Scores Off ( no more PPS tactic advantage)
CA banned or lot of restrictions with leftover points
JOAT with NAS banned.
Victory can be gain by single player ( not alliance)
Starting with AH from beggining ( especcialy when host is playing)
Thanx

New Newbie here -- Several games against AI, however nothing against people in a decade.

I just found autohost a few weeks ago and would like to give it a try again, Can I join using a JOAT? It looks like That's the newbie standard right?

Thx!

I guess there shouldn't be a problem, but this won't depend on me but on majority

For what has been taken, check the first mail, I'll keep track of PRT there...

Well, our last game was like that, but as beginners, it was quite hard for most of them to position themselfs, due to that, I thought it could be a good idea to leave it on, or to postpone it to another year of publicating the scores.
Comments?

Quote:

CA banned or lot of restrictions with leftover points

Yes, thought about that too, but as theirs already someone interested in it (actually two) I guess I'll take the option of restriction with leftover points or impose a "whaky" design (like mine efficiency 25/2/25 Twisted Evil )
Comments?

Quote:

JOAT with NAS banned.

Didn't I put that in the original post? ... um no, ok, I'll grant you that one Smile

Quote:

Why not allowing alliance victory on vote?
Or let's say, allow alliance victory on vote, but even reducing the number of players per alliance even more...
MaxNbr = (Nbr of active players - 1) / 2
So if there are only 4 players left, no alliances left...
Comments?

Quote:

Starting with AH from beggining ( especcialy when host is playing)

Well, some friends of mine are not so fond of that idea at all Sad but I'm trying to convince them, as this would reduce the work for myself alot Very Happy .
On the other hand, our last game was pure PbeM, with me as host and playing, and there weren't any passwords on the race files either. Nobody did have a problem with it, it was rather the other way round. From time to time, there have been issues with corrupted files, once I realized the problem, before sending the turn files, I checked for problems and fixed them. That way, the players didn't miss any turns due to that. I didn't peek at their turns, nor did they have a problem with it.

I suggest you go with Distant player positions. Otherwise you get the players clumped and some players end up with much more expansion room than others.

I'm interested in joining this game and have never played a multiplayer game of STARS! before, but I was hoping to get either JoaT, IS, IT, or CA.

I guess if all of those are taken, I would like AR.

Any ideas on when the game will start or what I have to do to register?

Hello and welcome,

Seems that we've got the AR PRT then Very Happy

About the start date of this game, I hope to have it up and running in about 2 weeks.

About registering, if you mean by that how to get into the game, well, consider it done. Very Happy Next step would be to send me your racefile...

Tiny is totally off cause some of PRT like IT,AR,maybe SS are almost unplayable in this size.

Small is ok when there is no more than 5-6 players, and still IT/AR/SS races have disadvantage with this size of galaxy,

Medium is the best for 5-10 players and imho this is well balanced size for most races.

Large and Huge are galaxies designed for more than 12-14 players and games in big worlds takes too much time like year of more.

So imho medium is the best for this game. Definition of density should be well created, im recommending normal for 5-6 players, dense for 7-9 and packed for 10 (any maniac with HE ? dont think so ....)

Sparse is similiar to Small/normal so still unbalanced for few races.
But of course i may be wrong Wink

Btw. two weeks to start game hosted pbem is a very long time.
May i know why we should wait 2 weeks ?

Better way is to public announce deadline to recruitment process and racefiles delivery and start day after that deadline without waiting for anybody.
Imho recruitment time longer than week is a waste of time : but of course host propably have his own opinion Wink

Sure you may... Smile

Fact is that two of the four friends of mine are currently on vacation. They'll be back mid of next week, and as there was a request for leaving WE off, that's close to monday the 25th.
Another two will be back this monday, but these are not yet decided if they'll join.
Besides, I didn't think to find as many player so quickly... Very Happy
And I still need racefiles of anyone, except you Wink

Hope this answer your question.

A month is reasonable to wait unless game is full. Stars! game usually lasts half a year or more.
People who lose their patience waiting 2 weeks ... are best to kick out immediately. Nothing spoils the game more than half galaxy of dropouts. Wink

Well maybe im little unpatient Wink
Well but when in my last game all recrutitment took a one week : 14 players was in Smile
One week ...not one month Mr. Kotk Smile
But of course i have no experience with AH Forum recruitment Wink
Anyway there is 8 slots locked ( and only 2 left free) so i can suppose that main reason for wait will be races testing and sending ( really ?)

There are many reasons beginner games fill up faster than any other skill level. Not many of them are flattering. Smile Kotk was probably speaking in general for all skill levels.

I'm going to need the week or so to finalize my AR race. There isn't much room between a working AR and a seemingly fine but really troubled AR.
