Hi,
New to the board,... LOVE the game, had played (Demo's) back in the 90's and recently re-discovered it... Buit sadly it seems to be impossible to find a copy of the game to purchase... Any news on game availability, or a location that you can contact "old users" to buy their unused games?

Hi,
I was wondering is there any way of getting stars! now ?
I haven't played the game for years now, but It always remembered it as a simple but extremly addictive. Know the addiction is back, is there any way of obtaining stars! ?

There is nowhere to get it at the moment, that I know of.

Empire Interactive said that they would re-release Stars! this year. I recently sent them an email trying to find out when they would re-release it, but havn't heard back from them yet.

Hey Ron.

Do you think there may be a way to mass communicate with Empire to enable them to see the viability of demand for Stars? My friends and I (4 total) purchased a copy each back in the beginning of '06 via a Scandinavian website, but have been unable to source further copies for the numerous friends and associates who want to get into multiplayer Stars!
I have contacted Empire via email regarding purchasing copies, and a re-release, of the game, but received the generic response already quoted in previous posts "This software is no longer avaiable from our store as the item has now been delisted and we do not produce or distribute the software anymore". Sad

Have you considered a deadline for the re-release date of the game, seeing as the first half of '06 has come and gone, following which you might return to the practice of providing serial numbers in leu of a donation?
Stars! is a great game and it would be a shame for sincerely interested gamers to miss out on playing. Smile

Actually, there are good reasons for them not to re-release Stars. I seem to remember Jeff McBride telling me that the rights to Stars! revert back to him (and Jeff Johnson) x amount of time after Empire stops selling it.

Jeff has told me that he'd like to release a version that doesn't require serial numbers at all, but couldn't do that as Empire was still selling it at the time. I'd like it if he'd implement a better encryption method for .m and .x files, perhaps with an option to not encrypt them at all.

Is this a solid aspiration from the Jeffs re: thier own re-release, or is it more of a suggestion in passing?
Any ways, hope the idea of an intermediate solution of giving out codes via the forum and donations might become a possibility.
