I've been wondering this for several years now. What does it mean "bugged PP" in the Stars! Calculator? Under Mineral Packets Calculator. There's: PP, IT (Both Obvious), and "bugged PP". What's the difference between bugged PP and PP?

I think this refers to an earlier version of stars where packets did less (half?) damage.

huh... what version's that? I was almost worried it was a modern feature (or as the name suggests, bug) I wasn't aware of.

And that figures from what it does to the PP damage scale, same decay, less pop kill.

From rgcs:

Nope, when they moved the code (from CA?) to PP to make packets

Ergo, a bug. I know it's in the manual. That makes it one of the best
documented bugs in existance.

Nope, bug. Specifically, when the PP's got the ability to terraform
with packets from the old CA's, they also picked up the 1/3 damage,
because the Jeffs forgot to take it out when they moved the code for
terraforming, not because they meant for it to be there.

Interesting ...

Excellent corroboration Micha!

I think it suggests they did 1/3 damage.

These are long forgotten things ... CA packets now do normal damage and PP packets do normal damage plus terraform occasionally.

Originally CA packets occasionally terraformed but otherwise did 1/3 damage.
CA packets were turned to normal and that ability was moved to PP and short time PP did 1/3 damage.
Smile We have shadows in some old tools and thats it. Nod

Did PP exist before the terraforming was given to it?
(Stars! history lesson, how fascinating.)

Yes. Nod PP packets did not terraform.

It was some early 2.6 patch ... probably "a" that made CA-s packets to be normal and PP-s packets to be weak but terraform.
Later the weakness was fixed. Wink
