Welcome Joe,

when you want to play against other people you can have a look at the New Games section and see if there is something that interests you, preferrably a game for newbies/beginnners. Just post in the thread of the game. Several beginner games started recently, Ashlyn is hosting them, maybe she has more players that are intersted in another game ...
If you don't find one to your likings you can host your own, though not recommended if it is your own first multi player game. Smile

When you actually join a game the host will be happy to help you further with the actual playing. You can find also find info about that here.

Next to this forum a good place to get info is Stars!FAQ. And when you really get hooked to playing against humans you'll need to check the "Must Know" section.

You just missed the start of four "Stars Newbie Challenge" games, but in a game I'm playing in ("Together Again") one of the other players found that he can't continue in the game. You might be able to take over his position in the game. The request for a replacement has been made in this thread - you might want to check it out.

You might also like to have a go at dueling, which is a 2 player game, usually in a Small, Packed Universe with Acc-BBS but theres no reason to not change these settings if you wish to. Duels allow much greater flexibility when it comes to submitting turns and except in rare cases(I've never heard of one) are not hosted on AH.

Bear in mind that duels are quite different from multiplayer games in that there's no diplomacy involved, so while you know exactly who the enemy is, you also can't form a grand alliance to kill them.

Just post a message in the Dueling Club section asking for a dueling partner. Someone will step up I'm sure...if only Chagarra Very Happy

Either that or keep a high growth CA or SD in your back pocket...
