Hi everybody,
After a lot of development and testing, v1.0 (release) of the VML-mod is available on request. It was created with Stuart Douglas' StarEd 1.2 program.
I'm currently trying to put up a website for downloading the VML-mod zip package, but that may take some more time. Until then, you'll have to mail me to get it (if you do to request the files, please tell me whether or not you're willing to play in the upcoming pbem "transwarp III", which I'll host using the mod).
If you're running a popular Stars! website and want to put it there, just let me know.
Short feature list:
- complete modified .exe file (1200kb zipped download) for easy installation
- helpfile including version history and explaining all the changes
- subtle changes enhancing gameplay and tactical possibilities
- better PRT balancing (eg IT gates not as strong, PP throwers stronger, modified TF cuts CA strenghts etc.)
- starbase exclusive items like cap missiles, cannons, armor
- chaff shredder weapons
- slightly modified shipline, including a PB hull (pocket battleship), revised Nubian, Galleon and Dreadnought and a new MT hull
- modified pictures for the shipline, using images from SSNG!
- revised genesis device
...and many more.

Thanks for the enourmous feedback I got so far. Concerning the questions that I get asked over and over again:
1)Ofc you can keep your old Stars! .exe in the same folder (as long as you don't rename the VML-file), though I would advise seperated ones.
2)The game parameters of "transwarp III" are not yet fixed. As it looks ATM, there will at least be 2 games filled with players. Just mail me if you want to participate. You'll get on my mailing list - then allow a few days before I post or do a poll among my possible players.
3)No, there's no .stm file of version 1.0 ATM. If you want to renounce the SN pictures for whatever reason, download v0.9b (from the website where you got StarEd from). That one has 99% of the content wihtout the pics. But you will not be able to play in games using v1.0, at least not without causing trouble.
4)Yes, I'll be putting a picture section with teasers on the download site, for those who are still undecided. That will take another 24 hours at least.
