I'm a little baffled. I uploaded my turn for the MDI game on Autohost before I went to work this morning, no problem.
I come home from work and try to access the webpage to check turn status and download turn (if available) using the same link as always, no success. I keep gettting an error 404 "site not found" message.
Obviously, I can still access this forum. So I tried the "Jump to Stars Autohost" link on the webpage and same results.
I did a web search using the words "stars autohost" and found the links listed there. Same result.
I also saw some "link autohost to your webpage" webpage and selected that, then clicked on the link it gave. I had limited success, as everything seemed normal until I went into the minefield to find my game, "MDI". I found it but when I clicked on that link, THEN comes the error 404 "site not found" message.
I've also tried every mirror site link I saw and ultimately get the same result.
My browser seems to work fine and nothing changed HERE between the time I left for work and returned, unless the intruder entered the security code to disarm the residential alarm and was then thoughtful enough to reset it after tampering with my computer and taking nothing.
I'd think the Autohost was having difficulties, but there is no announcement that the server is down or the link has changed, nor is there any mention of anyone else having a similar problem, and that seems unlikely if it were on the Autohost end.
I also tried disabling Norton Internet Security 2002, no difference.
So, anybody got any ideas what I should try next? If you give me technical advice please remember I'm a forty year old man who doesn't really know much about computers (despite having one since the Commodore 64 was the latest wonder) and pretend like you're explaining it to a four year old.
Thanks.

I sent Ron a message about the game pages, and here is his reply (so y'all will know what's going on):
Sigh...
We're setting up rsync to easily update the web pages on our work's
Linux box (which houses Stars AutoHost), and keep the files synchronized
between our development box and the production box. I thought I had
set the rsync exclude settings correctly to exclude the stars symlink
but obviously had it wrong as the symlink was deleted.
I was too busy after I got home to even check email or the forum, so
didn't find out about the problem until I arrived at work the next day.
I've placed all games on hold to allow players to upload turns and prevent
early turn generation while player turns were out.
I appologize for the trouble and downtime of Stars! AutoHost (17 hours)
and thank you for your patience.
