Digging out the old white flag |

Things seem to be falling apart in the eastern half of the galaxy. War has broken out between former allies, one player is probably going to have to drop due to RL issues and at least 3 others (including myself) are not particularly keen to continue.
I'm therefore coming to the conclusion that no serious competition to the western alliance (Tarvey, Faerie, Zorn, Uppis) will emerge, and that this may be a good time for the rest of us to surrender.
Does anyone else agree with me ?

I notice that 4 out of the 6 players remaining in opposition to FUTZ (Faerie, Uppis, Tarvey, Zorn) didn't submit turns last time.

Hi, come on!
Do you really want to surrender even without any big battles?
I wanted to learn how to play AR; also how to defend starbases against enemy missile BBs. So far I have not learn the defensive part well enough due to the lack of attacks against my starbases
My strategy was to try to kill small fleets with higher init ships, and to let big fleets to kill my starbase while my beamers would kill the enemy fleet thus making the battle too expensive for the enemy. But, I have not yet got a chance to test that strategy. The only good think in this game was the loss of Zucchini - although it was not a surprise either. I would have wanted more attacks like that...
OK, Uppis Duppis are in a good shape. We have just got the tech for building our final main beamer nubians, and we'll start the mass production after a few turns once we get energy maxed out. But, before that our production capacity is less than 50 AMP nubians in a turn and the galaxy is still very big. Our war fleets are only at the half way of the galaxy at the moment, so the eastern side of the galaxy has still some time to research nubians and to build their mineral fountain.
But, if you _all_ really want to surrender, I'm ready to swap passwords with anyone who wants to see Uppis Duppis race once the game is over.

The eastern nations were quite successfully allied against you until recently, and you could have had your fight.
Unfortunately this was based on some political maneuvering by myself and the fact that I had set a lot of races to "friend" way back in the early stages of the game. Things fell apart when I was forced to change this.
In addition to FUTZ the Hyperions were trying to lead an attack against me - if the Fools hadn't dropped then they would have joined in as well I believe. So it would have been me against (at least) 6 other races. No fun.
But the main problem was that this didn't turn out to be the kind of game I was expecting. My aims were to avoid war through diplomacy while building the biggest economy (It's the Economy, Stupid), and then to have all the other players begging me to be on their team at the end. The way the game has progressed is very different from this, and is largely about warfighting between relatively evenly matched teams, which isn't my forte.
