I have written a tool to move worlds around in the .xy file, this is because Universe Creator didn't allow fine tuning of planet locations. It also allows chaning names of worlds (within limits).

Ron has put Map2XY.zip up on the AutoHost download page http://library.southern.edu/stars/kn2050.htm (this url will change soon)

This is from Map2XY.txt included in the .zip
Map2XY will take a .xy file and a .map file and modify the .xy file to match the .map file.

Names can be changed, but only to another name in the planets.txt file, duplicate names are not allowed. Do not modify the planets.txt file at all, the names really come from Stars!.exe so modifying it without modifying Stars!.exe will only confuse things.

Planet # cannot be changed at all, and, in the final universe, no planet may have an x value that is lower then the prior planet, they may be equal.
y values can be in any order it seems.

There seems to be a limit on y position to the limit of the game size, so for a huge you can't set y to 3000 or more.
There is probably a similar limit for x.

It has not been extensivly tested, so be sure to back up your .xy file before using.

Many years ago .. about 10 or so
I created games with Mapper07.exe

I found it to be the best of the 3 available Remappers

I always used a B+W single pixel mapping
I always used exactely the same number of pixels as planets/stars!

the image after creation needs to be FLIPPED vertically
before running the remap for it to come out as expected

must becareful that no pixel will be beyound 3095 vertical
co-ord on generation even tho map can be 3200x3200

Older players may recall my 2 most famous games

X-Marks a large game with 4 arms from center looked like a big X
this game lasted almost 6 months to victory

Poker nite using approx 25 stars per CARD A K Q J 10's
were create in all 4 suits and players competed in teams of 4
to capture a full house.. every planet/stars! in the card
had to be occupied by one of the team members

The important part of the Mapper07 program is to be sure your source .gif has exactely the same number of WHITE pixels
as the game source .xy has planets

I never needed to jiggle with that method it was 1 planet to 1 pixel and the pattern of the source was always exactely duplicated on remapping.

I may create one more game just for the fun of the setup
my games were always very creative changing from the hurry up
and crush all to a strategy of a team and a goal

THE only thing I really felt that was needed on GAME creation
was an option to have normal random mineral % except for player HW which would all be set to equal % or max

The only method avail is to make all worlds MAX and that gets boring real fast

Stars host editor - it allows you to tweak lots of settings on all worlds or just some.
Gible's wiki has the link

I cant get it to work if there is an AR in the room, but other than that its really useful
