Very Happy In 2469 The Alliance Party pop dropped on the planet PCP with the prior knowledge of the inhabiting race. The purpose of this move was to create a neutral gated port for all to use. In 2470, the Alliance party will add an orbital fort with an any/300 gate that will allow unrestricted weight access to most locations in the galaxy. The ships of all of my friends are welcome to use this gate to reach distant destinations, refuel, trade, pursue new deals and visit the local establishments for conversation, refreshments of many varieties, female companionship and to pursue any other vices that you might desire.

As a committed candidate for eventual office of President of the galaxy, I make the following pledges to my potential constituents during this great era of peace:

1) I pledge to restrict the growth of this neutral port to an orbital fort.
2) I pledge that the orbital fort will remain without weapons of any kind.
3) I pledge to work with my financial and technical sponsors as well as other allies to improve the distance capacity of the gate facilities.
4) I pledge to my current and future allies to keep this neutral port open for business that will hopefully be to your profit as well as my own.

By the rules and circumstances created by our esteemed host, my adding an orbital fort to PCP will also increase my Total ‘Potential’ Vote. While this side effect must happen, the purpose is not to set off a Presidential Vote. It is much too early in the game to even consider such a vote.

At the moment, my party has all races set to friend as has been the case for most of the game to date. Thus my pledge is to all races. However, I do not doubt that some other strong candidates will soon make moves to increase his status for Presidential contention. When this occurs, my pledge will remain for my allies!

Tom of the Alliance Party

Actually, I don't think establishing an orbital fort (or a dock) on PCP will trigger an election - it must be a starbase, if I remember the rules correctly.

In the current status thread of this forum, our illustrious host states that the votes displayed count any starbase as a starbase. Maybe we should ask him to begin displaying only legitimate votes, in order to minimize any confusion.

Nah,
but you'll know when a vote is triggered Wink

[there is a reason for this...
it has to do with the scan info which is provided in the textual report... that does NOT say what kind of starbase actually is above a planet... only the name, (and you can use the same name for ALL your starbases) Therefore, a vote actually requires an eyeball confirmation... (and I don't want to do that EVERY TURN!!!)]

OK?
