Wumpus (AP) - Tarvey Space Command issued a statement today requesting that the Hyperions remove all scouts from Tarvey space.
"Well, the reasons are obvious," explained Director Piprel. "We've stressed again and again that our spacelanes are dangerous for navigation, and now Hyperion scouts are running afoul of local hazards."
Sources report that Hyperion Fleet #49 perished in a collision with an as-yet-undetermined space object. Space Command is investigating the incident as an accident.
Should the Hyperions comply with this safety request, said Piprel, there's no reason that their pilots shouldn't continue to live long and fruitful lives. "Just do it in their own space," said Piprel. "Hyperion space is uncluttered by the navigational hazards present in Tarvey space, and therefore much safer for interstellar travel."

Due to the continued Tarvey traffic in what should be obviously Hyperion space, irrespective of a 200 ly exclusion zone or not, the Hyperion Imperial Council has decided to continue the flight of Hyperion scout ships in Tarvey space.
All Hyperion scout ships will travel at a safe and courteous warp 6 throughout Tarvey space in order that there will be no inadvertant contact with Tarvey-owned material, thus removing the well-intentioned concern that the Tarvey governement had for Hyperion ships. Such concern, though it be a most winsome trait, is for the most part an unnecessary virtue as regards the Hyperions.
Should this change of policy be of a particular concern, the Tarveys should reconsider reopening diplomatic channels. This can be accomplished by contacting:
Eros, Ambassador of Hyperion Foreign Affairs
-or-
Hermes, Secretary of Imperial Information Services
Nothing for now.Report message to a moderator
