I believe the figures are :-

For each uncaught 100kT of mineral there is 50% chance of performing 1 click of normal terraforming on the target planet (i.e. the same terra with the same limits as if you were sat on the planet spending resources).
So a large packet of 2000kT on an unoccupied planet should expect to terrafrom it 10 clicks, which is a lot.

Secondly, the same packet can also perform "permanent terraforming" by altering the underlying planet variables.
There is a 50% chance of performing 1 click of permanent terraforming per 1000kT of uncaught material.

This ability is only available to PP and CA and for CAs it is random, whereas PP's can choose what planet to permanently alter.

Note these figures are for uncaught amounts, so work best on planets with no defences and especially no flingers.

The direction of terraforming in all cases is towards the optimum for the flinging race.
Whether the target is yours, friends, enemies or empty makes no difference.

For an immunity I believe the terraforming is towards the closest edge.

Can somebody clarify what effect part amounts have.
i.e. does 101kT count as 2 chances for terra, or does 199kT only count as 1 chance ?

M

Try -f PP! Surprised
It is beutiful... You start with 2 worlds- which is a great advantage for an -f race. Reseach bio 1 first up and you 're cruising! Very Happy Eh, build 4-5 scouts in the first yr too if you have accelerated start.

Cheers! Cool

In the Future there is only WAR...
Therefore our extinction is assured, it is just a matter of where and when.

As a -f PP, keep in mind you still want relatively strong mineral settings.

10/3/15 or so should suffice, however.

And DO NOT forget you still need a warfleet.

Bombers are also important; packets are NOT cost-effective to kill a world on their own.

Of course, you can have bombers of nothing but LBU in order to reduce defenses+facts+mines before smacking with a packet to kill people. Especially as a -f who doesn't want the factories that much...

Keep in mind the minerals that affect each terra for your habs; Grav-immune will be wise, and you want rad and temp both shifted at least a bit, as a -f, since you'll have germ and bora to terra with.

Also, do *not* underestimate the power of using packet scanning.

It's entirely based on the speed of the packet, and not the size.

So if you fling a minimal-size packet at the max warp, you can get some very nice scanning for quite a ways, and it'll be sustained faster than your scouts can go.

But don't neglect your scouts, either.

As for LRTs, NAS is one you may or may not want. If it doesn't cost, or at least not much, you should probably take it; NAS gives marginal penalties, and marginal points, for a PP. But the benifits can pay off so much.

lots of terms i don't get. what is a -f PP.factoryless ok..looked that up

Also, NAS only affects planetary scanners? so packets still have penetrating ones? i'm guessing yes on this one

Yep. Usually PPs are still designed without NAS LRT. PP gets almost no advantage points from NAS.

When the bidding game is over, I'll release my turn files. My race was a OWW PP designed to rely on packet terraforming capability.
