UhOh! Embarassed My computer has chucked a wobbly Mad (so I've got nowhere to store my backups and logs etc.)

I've cancelled todays gen Sad to give me a chance to repair it. Game will gen tomorrow instead (unless I can't fix the problem, in which case I will put the game on hold.)

edit: Tuesday's gen has also been cancelled. Game will (definately!) resume with tomorrows gen - 2AM GMT 12th Nov

edit: Game now genned and back up and running

Sorry guys. Rolling Eyes

Why the hold? Your turn is in, and you are just the observer, so it should not matter if you miss a few turns. (Especially as a 1WW... you just build more factories and mines each turn...) As you have all the passwords, you can always check that if you suspect someone of cheating (which I hope never needs to be done because it almost always destroys the game...)

And while I am asking questions... why the Strict Schedule? I prefer NOT to have that, so that if everyone is early we can get in some extra turns....

1) I'm keeping personal backups of every turn (in addition to the ones on autohost, which are not easily accessible) so I need to get my 'puter fixed so I can store them.

2) If there were any problems, I couldn't fix them as I don't have any access to a stars! program. It's a major pain for me to even access email at the moment, so I probably wouldn't even *know* there was a problem Sad

3) I also wouldn't be able to submit any turns for the Observer. Like you say, thats not a big deal for OWW, but I do want to get scanner coverage up before 2430 and I'm right in the middle of building and lauching all the fleets. Confused

I could work around all of those if I had more time, but I'm in a panic keeping my work running smoothly / restoring my data (also because of the virus) so I've had to deprioritise CLFKIAB while I get through the crisis Embarassed (If I just had more underlings... Twisted Evil )

I've cancelled today's (Tues 2AM GMT) gen, but I'm on top of the problem and tomorrow's gen WILL go ahead as planned. Cool

I find the strict schedule very convenient for hosting - it always gens at the same time each day (i.e. during my lunch break) and I can forget about the game during weekends! Yay! Free time!

Which all makes it fairly painless to maintain. Well, usually... Rolling Eyes

Game has been genned. I will try to ensure the game does not need to be put on hold again.
