I don't know if anyone noticed, but when the server shifted off of day light savings time, all games that had midnight gens got two gens in a row because of it.

Really? This happens every year, but I thought Ron paused AutoHost to prevent this?

I stopped AutoHost from about 10:30 EDT to 2:20 EDT (1:20 EST), so don't know how any game would have double genned.

Dunno how but Zared2 managed to double generate. I got two e-mails an hour apart telling me of it's generations. Unfortanetly the host seems to be nowhere to be found as he has not responded to the player's e-mails.

Mad2 Just one more reason to really really HATE that daylight- saving system. Whose idea was that, anyways? The guy oughta be... 2 Guns I don't understand what's wrong with it getting lighter and darker at different times of the year. If it get's light and dark an hour earlier at certain times of the year, who cares?

It also upsets my little girl (10 months old), she has her own day rhythm, now suddenly everything is happening at different times, sleeping, eating, etc (actually there is no "etc" since that's all she does so far Laughing ), I hope she can adjust fast since she's confused now (not to mention I need to get up one hour early since she thinks it's already time to get out off bed Laughing).

I've restored the previous turn and put the game on hold until players upload their turns.

Really weird actually. I have *three* games with approximately identical schedules. (RWIAB IIa, IIb, and IIc.) RWIAB IIa appears to have double-genned, the other two did not. Very odd. I already restored the turn on IIa and set it on hold to allow people to catch up. I'm not fond of regens - but at this point I think the turns are valuable to the races to not allow the skip to go through.

Very strange. I had stopped AutoHost specifically to prevent this from happening. Sad

Perhaps next year you should pause it earlier. For example pause it at 6:00 PM and then unpause when you get up in the morning. Perhaps that will solve the problem.

Maybe the changes were made too close to midnight and for some reason some of the games 'didn't get the message'. Sad

Of course you could just not bother adjusting the time for DLS..but that may cause other problems.

Come to think of it...how is the time adjusted/stored? I vaguely remember linux having the option of keeping the system clock on GMT time and each user having thier time adjusted to whatever timezone they wanted...if this is so then could AH be left in a GMT/non-DLS adjusted timezone?

okram- Snap! lol Smile

Sorry, AutoHost runs on our work web server, and the correct time is needed for work-related scripts.
