Hello to all of you!

I have been unsuccessful in finding replacements for the two races who are set to inactive. What should I do with these two races?

You will notice that turns have been submitted for both of them this year. I changed their production queues so that they would at least be building up infrastructure so that they might be able to defend themselves. Do you want me to scrap all their colonies and make their homeworlds off limits to all races, or would you like me to make them limited number of planet wonders and have them try to defend the planets that they do have?

Another option is that since I cannot play these races as races trying to win the game what I could do is try to get them set up as trader races who, for a price, will transport your minerals from planet to planet and have it be outlawed for anyone to attack these ships. Basically allowing you to purchase secure transport of minerals.

I do not know what would be best to do at this point. Let me know what you think.

How about announcing ALL of their worlds are off limits, then take them over with the observer race? You'd then have resources, minerals, and production centers to implement any new ideas you want to try, like maybe acting as a trader race, or some kind of periodic reward system for hairbrained contest ideas or something.

If they own a lot of planets, maybe announce the "release" of one here and there for conquest, periodically. That way they would all eventually be returned to the remaining players, without one or two players being able to snatch them all quickly (which COULD drastically alter the course of the game).

Or just sit on them and make sure nobody takes them, ever. If their position is such that it's not going to hamstring their neighbors (whose only option may have been to expand through them), just sitting on them might be best.

I don't care.

My vote:
Of the two homeworlds; allow them to be invaded but only one can be occupied by the same partnership (i.e. one partnership cannot own both of these HWs).
Colonies are fair game.

Since the first two dropouts, this issue has not been addressed nor the rules updated for clarity. Are ALL dropout HW's off-limits, now? The webpage still says "two".

I guess I don't really care much whether or not they are all off-limits or not, but I'd like to know for certain if such is the case, or if that ruling only applies to the first two races which dropped, since there are a few of the latter dropouts near me. If it's just the first two, I need to know who those races are.

Alternately, just remove the restriction altogether because with 80% of the galaxy dropped out two off-limit HW's isn't going to matter anyways. Might as well make their victorious neighbors happy for the prize.

Anyone else's opinion? The restriction was put in place when it was expected that only the two races would be drop outs. Now that more races have dropped out, I am willing to remove the restriction if people want.

I think the restrictions on the HW's should be dropped and we just get on with fighting it out to the bitter end. Smile
