The first thing it's looking for (from my experience) is a .map file (Galaxy report).

It also is looking for .pxx files after that point. The 'xx' corresponding to the player number. You get the expanded version of the planet report by putting "NewReports=1" in the MISC section of your Stars.ini file.

HTH

I'm currently using v1.6.8 to generate bit maps every decade for the RWIAB games.

I'm planning on using this in a similar way for the 'Cute lil Fluffy Kittens in a Box' game. I'll let you know how I go! Thanks for the tip about the expanded planet reports.

harumph... I'm having trouble using the movie/animate feature - the 'run' button is alwasy greyed out Sad

There is a full set of backup.0xx folders (with planet reports) in the folder containing the .map file (and current set of .pxx files)

Is this option not yet enabled in the current version? I'm running 1.7.0, which I think is the most recent version.

The rest of the program seems to be running great, it's just this one (cool) feature. Rolling Eyes

Nope not enabled.. I asked the creator myself.. Sorry. There's a snap shot thing in the 'file' menu I think. Just take shots and string them together into an animated gif or other such thing.

Ok, np. I can live with that. Razz It's a great little tool. Cool I do wish I'd posted sooner though, instead of spending a couple of hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong Rolling Eyes

Now that I know it isn't enabled, I might invest the time and go one better - I'm gonna throw the player influence images at a morphing utility and generate a nice smooth flowing animation. Cool Should be very cool (at least for the guys that get to watch their empire grow and grow and grow Twisted Evil, I dunno if the guys that get to watch their empires crumble away after the first 50 years will be so impressed Crying or Very Sad
