NEMESIS!

Here's how it works...

Of all the intelligent life in the universe, your people are tolerant of them all...except for ONE. These stinking, sniveling, slimy scum are so disgusting that their presence in the universe is an abomination, and they absolutely MUST be destroyed before the disease spreads. You just happen to be the one to do it....

Every player will be given the name of the other race that they must destroy to win the game. The first person to destroy their assigned race will be declared the victor. To insure secrecy and fairness, the nemesis races will be assigned and tracked by a neutral party. Nemesis races will be chosen at random. It's possible that your Nemesis will have YOU for a Nemesis, but that is by no means a certainty. It's more likely that the race you're after will be after someone else. Once you've wiped out your hated foe, the neutral party will verify the fact that it's the RIGHT race and then you'll be declared the victor.

GAME PARAMETERS...

2.70 J
Huge
Packed
Galaxy Clumping
Distant Starting Locations
Accelerated BBS Play

NO Race Restrictions
20 year jumpstart - the first turn will be 20 years in length
Turns will be generated Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights at 9PM PST.

Races will be due by October 5th. The first turn will be available on the 7th along with the name of your target race.

Races will be taken in First-Come-First-Served order, but preference will be given to players of the current Stars! game (Drawn and Quartered).

Finally, if you have any questions about the game, get ahold of me right away by Email. jaysmith5@comcast.net

Thanks all!

woah, a 1st turn only 20 year jumpstart... That could give a big edge to HP races over HG races, as they will make best use of those 20 years limited to your homeworld only. Surprised

Could be, but then one would hope that the HG players would be using their growth to bring a second (third or more)planet up to speed. Also, on this size of map and in this game, it's quite unlikely that an HP player will be able to take advantage of the small gain they may get over the HG players simply because of the distances.

I've seldom seen a game where you don't have a drop out in the first 50 turns.

In a huge universe, a player could win without seeing a single enemy planet Very Happy

And I (the host of RWIAB) also commented post game how surprised and happy I was to not have had any drops in that game.

I find the Nemesis concept sort of interesting, but think a huge packed is massive overkill.

If you read the description you'd see that in this game, there is only ONE victory condition. You must find and destroy one particular race. The first to do so, will be declared the victor. So, you WILL see at least one other player before there's a winner.

And I don't believe for a second that you can play on a huge map and win without seeing anyone. If so, then there's something seriously wrong with the abilities of the players in the game.

Ohh, forgot to mention..

Dropouts are taken off the Nemesis list and the player that they were listed to exterminate is given as a target to the player that was after the dropout. No one is going to get it easy in this game.

Also, I consider a 'dropout' to be any player that has failed to submit a turn for at least 10 turns without explanation.

This is the first time I've seen a game with unusual victory conditions that sounds absolutely enticing.

Only problem is the universe size. Huge/Dense is about 1000 planets. I can't do it. I'm forty years old and just don't have THAT much time left to live. Laughing

Good luck with it, though. Great idea.

=c)

I'm 39, so I'm not far behind you. The last time I ran this game premise, it lasted for about 150 turns. An Evil Claims race took it.

Very Happy Huh? Silly hair So in other words if I am my Nemesis's Nemesis and he drops out then I am given myself as a target to exterminate? Hit over head Fantastic! I always wanted to do that before someone else does. Well that ever clears up a lot of things. Then it is possible to win without ever seeing an enemy planet. Look at the diplomatic power here: "Alright you guys, turn your fleets around right now or I'll kill myself and win!" Disco Thanks for the hint Steve. I guess it mostly depends on what you are drinking whether you see an enemy planet or not. Well then, huge packed distant, the usual game question would be when do we start? But in this case it has to be... what are the retirement benefits? Crazy

10 turns. That's not a dropout? That's a Smaugarian intergalactic nomad. Very Happy

In that case, 2 players will be shuffled. This is not the first time that I've run this premise and so I'm well aware of the possible issues and will deal with them accordingly.

I've got 8 players but would like to fill it up. I'm willing to modify the map size if I can get another 8 players because of it.
If you'd be interested in playing on a Med map instead, and are willing to commit to that by sending me a race, I'll adjust the map size down. If I get some players interested only with the smaller mapsize but don't fill, then I'll put it to a vote between players and set the map size accordingly.

Once again, the first turn will be out the 7th so if you're interested I need those race files!
