It's hot, really hot (for the U.K.)

I am in the North West of England, running at a scorching 30 degrees celcius outside. My loft is running ar 40 degrees (100 degrees farenheit).

Not used to this kind of heat. Humidity is 65 -> 70 percent.

Other than that, not much going on.

I am south of Waco and north of Austin, Texas. It is a cool 100F today with about 77% humidity. For a short while it went down to 78 until some rain clouds passed by after dropping a few drops. Yesterday was a cool 108 or so. I don't know because the outdoor thermometer is one of those cheap ones that looks like a clock with a needle and it stopped around 115. It is only accurate up to about 100 I think. But the weatherman said it was around 108. Of course the weatherman is always wrong about everything, so. In the swimming pool it is much cooler, around 88 or 89 water temperature. But it feels more like 80 the first couple of minutes. I just go in slow so I don't get a chill. Rolling Eyes Then when you get out a nice cool breeze hits you in the face. Feels just like a big dog breathing on you. Very Happy
Some of my neighbors across the street, young guys in the fourth infantry division just got back from Iraq after a couple months over there. They are outside enjoying the cool temperature. They said it sure beats 120. One of them even cut his lawn in the middle of the day. Crazy GI's. Very Happy
Oops, wrong forum. Very Happy

Perhaps us British haven't got the stomach for heat Wink

I must admit I do prefer the cold Smile

I always find, you can heat yourself up, but stuggle to cool oneself down.

Fine, you say.. open a window. Ok, but someone also forgot to inform these people about window screens!!! Ain't seen one since I got here.... no screens anywhere!! Either you have fresh air and bugs or keep the window closed. *puzzled*

Yes. Only thing is if you bang your finger with a hammer it hurts like hell when it's cold. Very Happy
There are many little extra things you can do to stay cool:
Try to get everyone to stay in separate rooms, as each person adds more body heat to the room. If others are in the same room don't talk much.
Offer to get everyone cool refreshments for them often. That way you get to spend lots of time in front of the refrigerator while you take your time looking for the drinks with the door open. If the others complain that you are taking so long, ask them "what was it you wanted again?".
Wear lots of clothes. They are ideal for cooling off. When you get hot just start taking them off and you will begin to feel cooler and cooler as each item comes off. But leave your shoes on, as the soles act as a good insulator if the floor is hot.
If you smoke don't light them. This will reduce average room temperatures substantially. Just suck on them and blow out a lot. The extra air movement will also help give the impression of coolness. It also blows heat out of your body. Suck, cool air in, blow, hot air out.
Watch your animals to see what they do. They use natural methods to stay cool. For example, you can hang your tongue out and pant like your dog. If you let saliva run down your neck that helps even more. That helps cool your body also. Just make sure you don't do this when your wife or girlfriend is present and you see a good looking young lady on the television or somewhere.
If you have a tail, wag it. It also will help to cool you off. Just don't let your wife or girlfriend wag her tail, as that will surely heat things up again and all you have done so far will be for nought.
If you have a drill, you can drill a hole in ice cubes and with some string make a cool necklace to wear around your neck. Don't talk about this to others though.
Most of all, don't move. Move as little as possible. If you have to play Stars! just use one hand. Don't even type. Just use your mouse and cut and paste letters if you have to send a message to someone else. That way you can get by with just a little wrist movement and index finger pressing.
Take cold showers. Thirty minutes in, ten minutes out, in succession. And when you are done with shower, don't dry off. Just get out and again watch your dog's technique. Shake like crazy, roll your eyes straight again, and be on your way.
I hope these tips can be helpful in the hot weather over there.

Gible's opinion on hot vs cold weather:

When its cold, you can always put on more clothes.

When its hot, there is a limit to how much clothing you can remove.

I like my thermostat set to 30°C Very Happy

Oh yeah...game comments...What happened to Thomas?

Thank you Gible Cool for those words of wisdom.

Now... I have a Stars! related question, should we be able to handle that -

One of the players is going to University in another country. He's not going to have the internet hooked up and ready until (approximately) August 26th.

He has a strong position in the game and may be worth the wait. Do you allow the break???? Tell me something besides the weather here!!!

Thanks

Sherlock
