Alright,

First I've never hosted a PBEM game so don't hold your breath for this one but..

My latest crazy idea for a game goes like this.
Every ten years your number of planets must double. Simple eh? Well not quite. You might be thinking of a -f or HE and no problem right? Well 2411 is easy 2 planets(or 4 if you're IT, PP). 2421 is easy too 4(or 8 ) planets but it gets a lot harder by turn 2451 when you have to have 16(or 32) planets, and as you can see it gets real hairy after that.
So are we going to see an all HE game? not unless we have real crafty ones. You see HE's must double as well. It would be truly unfortunate if an HE had 21 planets by 2421 because by 2451 he'd need a minimum of 168 planets to stay in the game.

I would not expect this game to last more than 70 years but I'm sure the mad scramble for planets near the end would lend a little excitement.

I'm thinking medium packed with a moderate number of players 6-8, ACCBSS ofcourse, HP need not apply. Smile

perhaps someone else would like to host, or even express an opinion on its playability.

You can host, it's easy! The only problem you will have is the doubling of planets early on. There is no way to enforce this until Public Player Scores are available. That being said, I will gladly join this game.

Try pretending you are hosting a game and create two races with two different passwords to do it with. Do that so you know how to host. Then realize:

1) People will send you passworded race files which will be added to the game (*.rXX, where XX is a number) to start with
2) You will create the game and send them the *.mXX files (don''t send the wrong ones out!)
3) People will send you *.xXX files in return.
4) Repeat 2 and 3 until game over

No problem for hosts to police things like that, even without PPS. They just have to open everyone's 2411, 2421, etc and check, there's no rule for all the turns inbetween.

course this precludes the host from playing Sad

No doubt you can find a neutral party to do that for you, this is a good and friendly community and if you ask someone will volunteer to help you with that. I've worked with neutral parties before (for placing teams togeter) and have been one, easy.

Thread moved to The Bar since it is not a new game announcement, but instead a discussion of game rules/set-up. Refer to the sticky at the top of the "New Game" forum for the clarification on where to post these threads.
