hi,
just a fun game - no monster races. just to play what you ever wanted but you would never do because you would loose.
map size: small
the turn generation will be rarely - no stress Wink
ps:
a neutral third party will keep all pw just in case....

How do you define "not a monster race"?

ah, Coyote is new to the game I see Smile

I think he means no CA, (NAS) JOAT or any other vulgar economybuilder.
For people who enjoy playing this kind of races (?!), you could try a penaltysystem (CA needs to dock 100 points or something; read an idea somewhere here on the AHF).

<Thinking about joining he muttered>
Now where to send my racefile to, and what are the gamesettings...

try uncommon/unusual combinations:
eg:
mizer AND ramscoop
slow growth
expensive techs

something you ever wanted to know how it is to play but you never had the heard to do it

I sent in my racefile, tried something I didn't do before.

But now I read this new post... Do I have to do crazy things to my race? I just thought to play something I didn't play before, w/o using monster PRT's...

Mail me if I got it wrong. I can still change my race if need be.

Edit: btw, the phrase 'mizer AND ramscoop' is a bit strange. When you take IFE you get both, then when you take NRSE you loose the mizers. You probably mean NOT take IFE and take NRSE?

Eek PS Bit strange in the wizard: the IFE-lrt states, you get the mizers... but you also get them if you don't take IFE IIRC... Confused2

MONSTER RACES:

They aren't HE. They are typically CA, JoAT or IS races with a playing style optimized for their efficient economic settings. You can "monsterize" almost any PRT except perhaps the AR. The Primary Trait isn't so important.

I was always told: you'll know if you're playing one Nod

I'm not sure what this meant either. Do you want people to do this or NOT to do this??? Could you explain further? Very Happy

It's possible to monsterize *every* PRT.

AR and HE are no exception, although I understand it's a bit harder for them.

So... yes, defining 'not a monster race' would be useful, since the accepted defintion of a monster is any race that can reach 25k resources by 2450.

... so how do you prove a race *can't* do that?

Well you have an upper bound due to growth rate and factory compound rate.
Of course nobody ever gets near the upper bound for their race, except 1WW.

When you take IFE you get ONE ramscoop: the fuel mizer.
If you do NOT take IFE and DO select NRSE you won't have ramscoops at all.
If you do NOT take IFE and you do NOT take NRSE than you'll have EVERY ramscoop EXCEPT the fuel mizer.

IFE+NRSE (selecting both) is the most common combination, and if not than you'll probably select neither of them.
So he could mean:
- IFE and NOT NRSE, you'll have a lot of ramscoops, too much choices Wink
-NOT IFE but YES to NRSE, you'll have a slow starting race (if not IT with their high prop tech) and no ramscoops at all
Both very different ways to play and both not the usual ...

You can try using Omnivore's handicap system if you want. I can't guarantee that it'll keep anyone from monstering but it'll slow the growth down a bit.

I can see this one getting acrimonious - whoever comes first will be accused of monstering, or at least 'not crippling' their race as much as the others... As much as I'd like to try something novel, I'm scared of this one! Crying
