The Shadallhawk Not Only Technology Stories Service is proud to bring you our first broadcast in the new universe!

Greetings to all you eclectic races out there in the Universe, this is Shadallstumph, reporting from the command centre of the Shadallhawk's Universal Construction Survey group here on A'po.

I have with me today Edgar Shadallsnick, head of the S.U.C.S. group. So what kind of information do you have for us today Edgar?

Edgar: OH we have all kinds of exciting information to share today! Our surveyors have tramped through all kinds of data to find out all kinds of things about the Universe.

Shadallstumph: Well, that is good to hear. What are you going to tell us first?

Edgar: There has been a significant increase in the number of factories built this year, although the rate of production is still lower than expected. We were quite surprised at the numbers and think that the increase is probably due to burgeoning populations, although we do not have any numbers yet on the universe's population. Maybe in a few years time our surveyors will have that figured out.

Shadallstumph: Not to rush you Edgar, but this is a government funded show, so we have limited time. Can you give me an idea of how many factories were built throughout the Universe last year.

Edgar: Oh, right. Let me see {shuffle... shuffle} ah, here it is. It looks like the different races in the Universe last year built 117 factories.

Shadallstumph: Hmmm... that is quite interesting. So that would be... aproximately how many per race?

Edgar: Well, we do not keep details on who has built how many, but as there are 13 races in the Universe (the Shadallhawks included) that would work out to nine factories per race.

Shadallstumph: That does not sound like very many!

Edgar: No, actually it does not, and it is especially interesting when compared with the fact that 373 mines were built this year.

Shadallstumph: Three hundred seventy three mines?

Edgar: That is correct. That would work out to about 28.692307...

Shadallstumph: We get the idea.

Edgar: Ah yes, sorry, got carried away there. The last statistic that we managed to collect this year was on the number of ships built by the different races. There were only fourteen ships built this year.

Shadallstumph: Thank you for your time Edgar, we have to sign off now, but thank you for your time. We look forward to checking in with you in the near future.

Edgar: Any time.

Shadallstumph: Good year to you all folks and we look forward to reporting to you in the future.

This is Shadallstumph signing off for another year.

Greetings to all you wonderful beings of the Universe... and the rest of you too.

This is Shadallstumph reporting once again from the Partners Back in Time universe.

Once again I have some relatively useless statistics to report about the universe at this time (2413).

The first of our statistics come from that weird section of the Universe known as the Score Watchers! They report to us that the following is the current standings of the races in the Universe. In first place is the Peons serving Shadall called the Shadallhawks with a score of 98. In second place is... oh excuse me folks, I am just receiving a transmission from the owners of the news service, it is in code so bear with me while I decipher it for you.
"If... you... announce... the... score... of... each... race... you... will... still... be... a field... reporter... during... the... Partners Lost in Time... universe!"
Oh, uhm, right. Well then... Perhaps I will just list off the scores then, from highest to lowest.

The scores are 98, 87, 86, 83, 71, 69, 62, 59, 58, 57, 53, 51, and 48. {phew} That was a close one... that was almost the biggest mistake of my career. Not that I mind being out here in the middle of this cold hard vacuum bringing you these stories, when I could be spending almost a whole year in bed with others I care about and only getting up to bring you these reports every so often. Oh, no, not me, I like this job... Sad

Another news bulletin has just been handed to me folks. This one is an update from the S.U.C.S. group. Apparently they have managed to sift through the enormous amount of data sitting on their desks and determine that a fair number of the planets have colonies on them already. This is quite surprising since we are only thirteen years into the development of this universe. The news brief goes on to indicate that not all of the races have colonized the same number of planets. In fact one of the races has colonies on nine planets (ten if you include their homeworld), while other races have as few as one colony (not including their homeworld). This is quite a surprising spread so early in the development of the Universe folks. We will try to bring you periodic updates on this topic.

The final news item that we have this year is just a small note from the Shadallhawks space fleet commander... do we have that tape... okay here it is folks:
Quote:

{hic} oh geez, is that thing on? Oh, uhm, I need another drink. Well, uhm, {urp} we now have many scout ships in {hic} space... would not do us much good to have them in the planet, ha, ha, ha... oh uhm... Right, as I w... {hic} was saying we have about {gulp} {chucks the empty over his shoulder}... uhm, heck a bunch of ships up there. Sure hope no one shoots them down.

Uhm, are you guys sure that was the right tape?... That was the best of seventeen takes? Merde! Pardon my french folks. All I can say about that report is that I am glad we are not depending on our militarty to protect us.

This is Shadallstumph signing off for another year or two. Rolling Eyes

Greetings to all you wonderful beings of the Universe... and the rest of you too.

This is Shadallstumph reporting once again from the
Partners Back in Time

universe
.

It has taken a long time but we have once again managed to compile some useless stats about the universe as it is at this time(2425). We apologize for the delay in reporting but our field correspondents have only recently succeeded in getting themselves into position around the Universe.

The first tidbit of information comes from our favourite source, those wild and ... well, actually geeky engineers over at the S.U.C.S. group. We go now to junior field reporter Shadallmusk:

Shadallstumph: Shadallmusk are you there?

Shadallmusk: Yes, I am Shadallstumph and do I have some exciting news for you? Huh, do I? Go on guess?

Shadallstumph: Pardon? Just get on with it

Shadallmusk: Yes I do Shadallstumph. The first little bit of information that we have pertains to the number of battles that were waged in the Universe last year. There were three different battles to be exact which cost the different races only two ships. Would you like to heare some other news? Of course you would!

We now switch our attention to the enormous plethora of data that we have received about research going on in the Universe.

Shadallstumph: The "enormous plethora"?

Shadallmusk: Yes, enormous plethora of data. The following is a summary of the results that were found after examining our scouts reports of each of the enemy territories. I will read off the results as field of research, the average level in that field, the maximum value in the field, and the minimum value in the field.

Starting with Energy, the average level attained by the races is four although there are races as high as level nine and as low as level three. In the wepons field the average is level six with a high of level 10 and a low of level two. For propulsion the average is level six with highs and lows of nine and four respectively. Taking a look at the construction research levels we see that the average level attained is seven with a high of level ten and a low of level three. For electronics we find an average of level three with a high of level eleven and some races not having any. Things are similar in the Biotechnology field where the average is three with a high of level ten and some races not having looked at it at all.

Geez, almost felt like I was back at my old home town station reading the weather forecasts for the empire. There is no job tougher than trying to read off the weather for the whole planet each and every hour.

Shadallstumph: Is that all that you have for us?

Shadallmusk: Just one last note here, the amount of resources that the different races are spending on research was quite surprising. On average the races are spending 812.307743... well you get the idea. The most surprising thing though is that there is one race in the universe that is researching using 2207 resources per year and another race that is not spending ANYTHING on research. That is correct, they are not spending anything on research. Just in case you wanted to know, the total amount of resources spent on research last year was 10,560. {bong... bong}

Oh, there is my husband calling me for supper, I better go... {stomp, stomp, stomp, slam}

Shadallstumph: Uhm, that was Shadallmusk providing us with our most recent information on the happenings in the Partners Back in Time Universe. I wonder if there was anything else to report this year. Oh well, we will try to get you an update before the change over to fewer friends in the universe at 2431.

This is Shadallstumph signing off for another year or two.

Waiter, WAITER, get me a martini please.

Greetings once again to all the surviving races in the
Partners Back in Time Universe

I am in the middle of a jump between sectors chasing down my girlfriend, er, I mean a hot story, so I will have to keep this fairly short. The S.U.C.S. group has compiled the following information (sorted from fewest number of ships to largest number of ships):

Total Ships: 12 / 16 / 21 / 23 / 23 / 27 / 57 / 58 / 62 / 65 / 77 / 100 / 107
Fleets : 09 / 14 / 12 / 22 / 13 / 10 / 53 / 35 / 24 / 37 / 32 / 07 / 28

Unarmed : 06 / 08 / 01 / 04 / 18 / 03 / 00 / 27 / 08 / 02 / 03 / 08 / 02
Scout : 05 / 07 / 13 / 14 / 05 / 03 / 57 / 31 / 38 / 20 / 30 / 64 / 76
Warship : 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 08 / 00 / 00
Bomber : 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 00 / 28 / 08
Utility : 01 / 01 / 07 / 05 / 00 / 21 / 00 / 00 / 16 / 43 / 36 / 00 / 21

I apologize once again that this news cast is so short, this "story" that I am chasing, has me rather distracted. More reports will arrive as time permits.

My apologies that there have not been any S.N.O.T.S. updates. My first baby is on the way and I have been preparing. The baby is due this sunday. Therefore, I do not expect to get a S.N.O.T.S. service article up for another three weeks or so. Please e-mail/PM me if you have any problems that you need me to deal with.
