Have you noticed the Rubicon CA Monster in your neighborhood yet?
If not, it will be there soon. On top of that, they are allied/partnered with the Traders. A formidable team that will shortly overcome us all if we stand divided.
So join us Turkeys in a war worth fighting for. We'll trade tech, information, minerals, & ships at discount rates. Thumbs Up
If we don't band together soon, it will be too late.
Contact me now to join the Alliance of Hope. Nod

An interesting irony there -

In "Partners In Time" it was the Traders who initiated the "Hope Alliance" against the Stardazers. Laughing

What was the name of the opposition alliance called for by the Stardazers back then? Maybe the Traders would like to recall that one in support of his ally. Very Happy

Anyways...

I don't know that you can call me an ally in your "Hope Alliance" or not because NOBODY is exempt from my minefields. Everyone is the enemy. I even blow up Shadalls with impunity (Don't think those cool public reports are free, he pays for them.) Twisted Evil It's just in my nature - I like blowing things up.

But you can count on me to oppose the Rubicons right along side you. The Rubes and I blow each others ships up at every opportunity, so my outspoken support for the cause isn't going to lose me any favor with them anyways. I intend to hamper his operations as much as possible as a first priority, proportionate to my ability to do so.

CA's dearly love to be ganged up on, that's why they are CA's. Razz It's like, "Everybody come and get me or I'll eat you all." Damn masochists. Cool

I have heard tell of these Star Dazers. A pitiful race. Lucky for them they had the Mighty Traders to teach them some lessons.

And no, the irony isn't lost on me. Razz

Alas, if races keep going inactive instead of joining us Hope-fuls, I'll be back in the Alliance of Despair again. Uh Oh

To all others out there who don't want to publicly announce, PM me and we'll see if we can slow them down. They're already fielding fast Collodial Cruisers with Bear shields.

So hurry up and join.
We've got star charts, planets for you to colonize, tech to share, and a monster to stop. Cheers

The Feathers Are About To Fly

Ouch!!! The Alliance has attracted the attention of the Rubicons. They just gated 88 Whitney class cruisers (collodials, bears, MJs) to a nearby Trader planet and will shortly be on their way to one of my ally's main planets only a few short years away. But for each planet that falls to their terrible might, the Alliance of Hope will fight to the last sentient being that flys/walks/crawls/slithers/etc.. and continue to oppose this overwhelming tide of destruction. Pray for us. Dead

Passifism will only ensure your lonely demise under the Rubicon juggernaut.

If you're a passifist watching the juggernaut devour some other empire, are you hoping that you can outgrow them in time? Don't be silly. After your neighbor has been absorbed the juggernaut is going to be bigger and badder than ever, and there will be no one left to help you when you're the next meal.

Start doing anything and everything you are capable of to slow the Rube advance, while there are others to assist and the outcome is yet unknown. When they get to you they will devour you regardless, and if that is sooner rather than later, at least you will be free to begin again wherein the outcome has not yet been determined. One can at least hope that the combined efforts of all will halt the juggernaut in it's tracks, and surprise surprise, you live and possibly win.

Delay, and the best you can hope for is to die last, therefore expending the maximum amount of time on a game lost from the beginning.

I wouldn't mind doing something against him Zoid, but currently your mine fields stand between him and me, and since I usually blow up whenever I find myself inside of them, I'll let the Rubi's blow up getting through rather than me blowing up to get to him. =P

The Kerans

(On a side note, I find it amusing that the Rubicon's had extended a hand of partnership out to me to fight against the Han / Zoid which I had ignored. Imagine if I accepted? *dramatic music* Coming up next on Historical Blunders, Xerox sells Windows for $38,000...)

Point taken. My "no concessions to peaceful relations" policy practiced up to this point (affecting the Kerans more than anyone save the Rubicons) may have been a crucial blunder, considering the circumstances.

I have no love for any other races, this is true, but if blowing up everyone entering the minefields has the net effect of running interference for the CA, that's not good for me either. I should have seen that myself, but I'm a simpleton. Laughing

Maybe I should be more accomodating. Maybe it's too late. You tell me.

But the point remains, if the CA goes unchecked for long, the outcome is certain. We the resistance, and all of the bystanders lose.

Somewhat informative message from the Alliance of Hope.

Well, here it is years later and with the lack of Trader/Rubicon activity, the original charter of the Alliance is no longer needed. It is therefore offically disbanded. Sad
And as the Alliance fades into the annuals of history, there is both a sigh of relief from no longer having to face the Monster and a sigh of regret for not having to face the Monster.
All too soon we all wind up as cosmic dust in the solar wind.

My apologies to everyone for not having found replacement players or having been able to take on the roles myself. My work and my new child have both taken up a large portion of my time right now. I expect to be able to come back to play some games maybe in November. I will most likely not be hosting another game for a year or more. Sad
