I have update the sourceforge bug tracker and feature requests with 'Milestones'. There were a lot of default milestones that made no sense. Now it is pretty clear what I think we need to fix for 0.5 and what can wait for 0.6 or later. There is a bit more on the TODO list for 0.5 than I thought, but it is still looking very manageable. There may be more in the in-code comments and that needs to be looked at (there is a script for pulling them out and a copy of the output in the repository).

I am finished with fleet combat for now as I think it is acceptable for 0.5. Damage makes sense, although it is not dealt quite the same as Stars! yet.

I have fixed the split/merge fleet crash, which was not nearly as difficult as I anticipated. I am going to take a quick look at combining fuel while I am there in case that is an easy fix.

Have fun.

Right: I'll tackle 0.5 tasks as they come.

On longer term there are two areas I wanted to improve on, way back before: UI separation via some sort of MVVM or MVP pattern (moving to WPF?), and the XML serialization of objects which is very "manual" still.

On the UI separation I actually had some work done before, but it was a mess. So that's discarded and shelved for now.

I'll research some about the XML while I get 0.5 stuff done.

Excellent! Glad to have the help. I start my house move tomorrow, which might mean I have limited computer access, or it might mean I have a lot of time waiting around to work on Nova. We are on opposite sides of the planet, so we should not get in each other's way tackling bugs.

Have fun.

I have transferred most of the text from the old wiki to the new wiki. There is a fair bit of reformatting required and I am having some difficulty working out a good way to link images.

I have read through the extracted in-code-trackers, fixed a few, and can now confirm there are none that _need_ to be fixed before 0.5 - although the lack of a 'do you want to save' warning on closing the GUI is a close call.

Have fun.

Things to do for Nova release version 0.5 break down into known bugs and tasks.

For all the known bugs scheduled to be fixed for release version 0.5, all have been fixed except those that require Mono/Linux/Mac. As I do not have a linux box at the moment, there will probably be a release that does not include those fixes Arguing . I am thinking 0.5 may be a windows release and 0.5.1 may contain the Mono/Linux fixes.

Looking again at the tasks, I could probably do an early release, call it 0.4.2 with the work done so far Shocked . It is much more stable and playable than 0.4.1 Cool , but not much of a game as it has only been tested solo against the pathetically useless AI (does not even build ships) Rolling Eyes .

Looking at the download stats, I think that is worth doing. Ok, I am working on releasing version 0.4.2 now. Eek

I am living in a motel. I get my new house and start my new job on Monday. My furniture and pets arrive Tuesday! Crazy

Have fun.

I have update the windows installer and begun the release process. However, I found a couple more bugs during release testing that are worth fixing before pushing this out. One is already fixed. Fixing the other will require more testing. I hope to have 0.4.2 out this weekend.

Have fun.
