Pretty funny actually, so I wanted to share it...
I was thinking of calling the thread "Sympathy for your Host" but figured this was better...
I don't know what set me off. Maybe the fact that I'm into the final 3rd of a mainframe conversion, and have been working 12+ hour days, 6+ days a week. Maybe it was that runaway CICS transaction dump on my desk. Or maybe just the fact that we haven't had a sunny weekend all freaking year...
I sit down to log into my host e-mail account. First thing I see is a public message from "X", one of my current players. He says that the host (me) is too quiet about a current issue, and why the host (me) let an "inactive" player back in the game, after several weeks. He says that I'm being a "bad host". Or that's how I read it, at first...
This was the same guy that a few days earlier, asked me about the "inactive" player, and I replied. I figured it was a dead issue, but now "X" wanted to make it public...
Boy, did I let him have it! I told him to go start his own game, if he didn't like my style. I told him this and that, and told him to get lost...
It only took about 5 minutes for "X" to reply. He apologized profusely for "offending" me, and said he was just playing around, and didn't mean any harm. He said it was just his personality on "The Forum"...
The Forum? Well, it turns out that it wasn't "X" at all. Turns out it was "Blue Turbit", a, ummm, rather well known "character" here. Imagine, me telling a fellow experienced host to go start his own game...
Don't worry, we quickly patched things up. After I got my head out of my butt, and reread his message in a better mood, it really was kinda funny...
And I think as a fellow host, he knows what we go thru sometimes, trying to do a good job and keep everybody happy. I think he knows that hosts are only human, and can have a bad day once in a while...
Sorry 'X'.
But just one Question Blue Turbit. Why are you trying to "hide" in my game as 'X'? You're not afraid of who you'll meet in the Champ II game, are you...
