new threads not shown as new

I think it was mentioned before (but I can't recall in which thread). It seems that sometimes new threads do NOT trigger the new post symbol.

And if there is no new post shown for "The Bar" or "Duelling Club" I usually don't bother to look into it. In this case, rather by accident, I did click to get into the Bar and thus detected that there were 2 new threads and 1 new in the Duelling Club:

It seems to happen only to new threads. So far I haven't seen it happen with threads where there was already a 2nd post in it.

It seems a minor thing but, to be honest, it is a quite annoying bug.

Any idea what the reason might be or how to fix it?

Thanks. I have been watching HWF religiously and missed one of those posts. Also replying to yours to increase the likelihood that others will see your observation and take note of the three posts you mentioned.

There is a useful "unread messages" link next to "todays messages"

But yes, the little lamp should also work.

The "Today's messages" link is literally for the current day. So if you are checking shortly after midnight or early in the morning, you are notified of only a fraction of the posts created over the last 24 hours.

Does anyone know of options that I can change when choosing that link. "Unread Messages"?? Because when I click now, I get messages back to 2003. Most are NOT topics I have ever contributed to. Don't want to read everything on HWF since then.

I tried this for a few minutes. Checking "Unread Messages" at the main menu and then toggling the "Unread messages" to "off" on the next screen now shows only this most current topic now. Thanks.

I think I haven't understood how you did it. How do you solve the problem that all posts from the private forums are shown (and I surely don't want to read those)?

About the problem that new threads aren't seen: As a workaround, until the bug can be fixed, I'd suggest that everybody starts a new thread with 2 posts. Otherwise the risk is really high that the new thread won't be noticed.

The way the toggling works, I cannot prevent a large number of messages from initially showing, but once they do, just hit the
"Unread Messages on" link and it goes to "Unread Messages off" and then I see only recent posts.
