When a new turn is generated by autohost it currently emails out the turn file (I presume that's configured somewhere by the host)
Would it be possible to add the next deadline to the email text (easiest in UTC probably?)
Just a thought to ensure that people don't assume that their national holidays overlap with the national holidays defined for AH.

Ok, done. Emails sent out by SAH containing turn files should tell you when the next turn will gen in GMT.
This was already part of the regular email notices (that do not contain turn files) so was easy to add to the other section of code.

Ostensibly, ... possibly...
I have a Stars!1.0.zip... it has a creation date of Friday, May 12, 1995...
Can anybody find earlier data?

I fear that it isn't working properly yet. Here an example from fa8 (generation of today):
Quote:This game will generate at the latest by Nov. 12 2012 08:47 GMT
This isn't the date and time of the next generation time but it fits nicely the exact time of the present generation:
..Turn Generated: Nov. 12 '12 - 8:47

Ron wrote on Thu, 08 November 2012 09:54It's only HWF that is 10 years old. Stars! AutoHost itself is 15 years old, went public May of 1997.
SAH's first forum started Dec. 7, 1997 and went to Nov. 10, 2002 when I setup Home World Forum using FUDForum.
I still have all the 8056 posts from the old forum. Each is a separate text file and contains the filename of the previous and next posts in a thread, subject, poster name, date, and the post message. Maybe someday I'll fix up an interface to search and display them.

Ron wrote on Fri, 16 November 2012 04:37Hmm, ok I think I fixed it.
Not yet but getting closer *grin
Again an example from fa8. The turn (after your fixes, I think) was actually generated at: Quote:Turn Generated: Nov. 16 '12 - 14:45
The outgoing email with the above created m-file states:Quote:This game will generate at the latest by Nov. 16 2012 18:00 GMT This is the time when the present turn would had been force-generated (if not all orders had been in before).
Good: The time shown is no longer the time the turn was generated but when latest the turn would be generated.
Bad: It's still not the generation time of the NEXT but the present turn.

I fear, I was too early.
Could it be that now NOT the next generation time is given but the generation AFTER the next?
But this time I'd feel better if another host or player (not FA8) could perhaps confirm it.

This turn everything has worked fine.
Perhaps the last problem was only a small mixup due to changed genning times.

He meant adjusting the dynamic gen timer after one gen happens at the earlier dynamic gen timer.
The old fashioned, getting ur hands dirty way would be to put a static gen with exact gen times for the current gen with the full timer (75 hours in our case) along with the next static gen of 48 hours post first gen. Once it gens, switch back to the dynamic gen of 48/50 hours again. That would give a near approximation of the next gen timing in the email.
Or the simpler way, as bob did himself.... when the host changes the gen timing, he just sends out a email to everyone.
