Problem with race file

I can create the file OK but my game host can't open it. If I try to open it myself with Notepad it's clearly a binary rather than a text file. Should it be binary or not? Any ideas what's gone wrong?

BTW I'm using 2.60j

It's always a binary file, I thought?
I didn't even know that you could open it with notepad.

Just remember, if you are making the race file, Don't rename the file using windows. Make any renaming changes* only from the race creation wizard.

Also, if you are in the wizard, don't reduce the race name by more than one letter in each save.

It's best to create the race file from scratch and save it with the final race name and the file name.

I'm pretty sure I'm creating the race file correctly so do you have any idea why it can't be read?

Do you both have the same version of Stars!?

If you both have then the race file should work.

If there is still a problem, as Nmid suggested, try starting the race file from scratch and when you save it do not change the name of the file.

I would not try opening the file with Notepad or any other program other than Stars! as this might leave it corrupt.
