Hi,

I am currently hosting a game here on AH and I received this email from a player in my game:

Quote:

I've got a little problem with those m-File emails. The file attached is called disco (1).m6 and it should be disco.m6. What's wrong?

I figured it was probably his email client that was renaming the file, but I thought you guys might have some other ideas.

Cheers,
Peptis

I would agree with you that its the e-mail client. If it automatically saves attachments (like mine) it will rename same named attachments like has happened to you player.

I set up a batch file to copy the Stars! game file into the relevant Game Dir and then Delete it from the Mail Clients Attachment folder so don't get the problem of having it rename new files. Razz

The funny thing is that he's in another game and he's not having the problem with that game.

Strange to say the least. I do know that Kazaa, if you download two of the same files, will name one "file.hi" and the other "file(1).hi" and so on, its quite funny if people download other files labeled "file(1).hi" twice because it becomes file(1)(1).hi et cetera.

That was my original assumption. I figured that his email client was renaming the file since the .m file from the previous turn was sitting in his directory. However, since he's not having this problem with the other game that he is in I am completely stumped.

Perhaps it has something to do with the phase of the moon Very Happy
