There seems to be a problem with the way the time is calculated for the next turn. A turn was not generated for Monday 0:00 GMT because the autohost thinks it still has about 2 days of hours left before the next gen. Since the last gen was on Friday at 1:32 GMT, the autohost is going to wait until Wednesday. At most it should have waited until 1:32 GMT Monday, IMHO. That would have been a full 72 hours (weekend).
Can this be set properly on the autohost? If we get turns in sooner, it seems to miscalculate the time for the next turn. I have no problem with an early gen when all players get their turns in but we seem to be having a problem with gens if one player is out and the autohost waits more than the 48 or 72 hours (weekend) to gen the next turn. At this point the next turn will NOT be generated until Wednesday. This is turning a very slow game into an EXTREMELY slow game.

I think someone said file size was related to micromanagement. What do you think about maybe going to a 72 hour gen all the time? I have a lot of micromanagement now and the extra day would be welcome. I know I agreed to a three turn a week schedule, but just asking...

{again, not in character...}
I want people to play, play well, and not drop out of the game. I want it to be fun. I played in a game (4 teams of 4, huge universe) that took a LOT of time and micromanagement. Toward the end ONE turn a week was all I could handle, and it was losing appeal very fast... (No more huge games for me!!!)
If switching to 72 hours gens will help us keep more players, then I will go with it. If switching to 72 hours will cause us to lose people, then I say stay with the current schedule.
Maybe someone can create one of those polls:
1) 72 hour turns would be helpful, please do it
2) I will keep playing either way
3) 72 hour turns would cause me to lose interest in the game
Given that we have agreed to 3 turns a week, I would say that ANY votes for #3 would nix this proposition.
Personally, I would prefer to stay at 3 turns per week, but I can live with 72 hour gens if it means we can have a better game. So my vote would be #2.

Sorry for the late reply on this matter but a higher instance didn't allowed to perform my Stars! duties. (Married for one year now and my wife, well ... you know.)
Anyway, I would have suggested the above. Similar as the poll to delay the switch to MTF, I thought it was too soon because of the very slow start, but since we agreed on 2420 therefore one vote was enough.
Same thing this time, but I think no poll is needed, my guess is that there are at least 2-3 players out there that would hate the 72h schedule ...

mch
