Greetings All,

With life changing and some of my free time being inevitably longer and longer I may be starting a RPG game soon based in the Stars! Universe. The first expansion "Genesis Wars" will hopefully consist of 16 players in a Small Packed Universe. After year 50-70 Players will have the option to "Expand" into neighboring sectors. The Original Sector is cramed due to the fact of it being the core, where space is very limited but stars are plentiful. Neighboring Sectors will consist of Medium Dense Galaxies and hopefully, Again, 16 players.

There will be a point system for race design where, depending on PRT, one must leave x-amount of points left over in the race wizard. As the game progresses players have the oportunity to "evolve" their race by alocating more points to the race wizard, though players who are "expanding" can not change their PRT or make dramatic changes to their econ (like going from -f to HP for example).

In this thread I would like to discuss what a good point system would be. To start off we can put the #Stars! Chanel point system posted on the News Forum:

AR 50
SS/PP 100
WM/HE 125
SD 137
IT/IS 150
JOAT 175
CA 200

Since it takes hundreds to thousands of years to "evolve" these points can only be taken away after the second game, or first "wave". There will be a time, if at some point all 7 games have been played out, that their can be expansions into a neighboring galaxy, where the point system reverts back to the normal but races who orginated from that galaxy recive the full points in the race wizard.

There also may be a point system regarding the ability to obtain aditional "underlings" or players who act under your wing for aditional "expansions". Every 100-140 years Player Positions among the Ranks (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) and points will be located to each one. Players with lets say 10 points gets an aditional PRT or "underling" for a future game. Since there are 16 players, and how in the first game how a good 1/4th of that may be gone by year 2450-70. I was thinking about using the following point system for players to use to purchase what they want:
1st-4rd: Gets 5 points per game
5th-8th: Gets 3 points per game
9th-16th: Gets 2 points per game

Aditional points may be gained for good RPing and the like but the way it works. But with 20 points you can gain an aditional "underling" for a future expansion, though 6 points can gain you an aditional identical race with a handicap. 12 points lets you change your PRT without a handicap, or slightly change your econ. Keep in mind that this can only be utilized if there is enough room in each game. So if you want a lot of "underlings" you need to expand into empty territory, if one game is full I can add an aditional game if enough players ask to start another game.

So if anybody has any suggestions regarding how to set the game off on the right foot let me know. I should have the game ready and organized by the Middle of December if not after the Holidays.

If any are interested let me know and I will reserve your spot ASAP, as well as keep a log of any comments you may have. For specifics on the 1st game:
Acc BBS Play
Small Packed (Hopefully with Max 16 players) Distant
Random Events are Enabled
Public Player Scores will NOT be enabled
All PRTs will be allowed
Chaff/Split Fleet Dodge Allowed
If you have questions regarding any other "hack" or "cheat" the answer is "No, not allowed".

Future games will have the following Stats though are not limited to:
Medium Dense Distant
_NO_ Acc BBS play
Same as above for everything else

Race Limitations:
Expansion Races MUST have Low Starting Population and Races who originate (as in new players who just got in) Must have LSP unchecked. Handicap will be enabled for 1st game and after it is fare play, again Chaff and Split Fleet Dodge only.

All players who join will be put into a database. Anybody taking advantage o

I read the post, my head hurts now, it sounds kinda cool, but so complex... I'd never understand it all, Id have like 10 games going at once, off, id be really fun though, just hard to orchestrate, I mean, if I like expand does it mean I have to lose my tech advantage? Since all the races in the new sector have gotta start at the beginning... And another ?, if I switch PRT FROM AR to something else, how can I not change my economy, majorly, or will those races not be allowed PRT changes... et cetera

Greetings all,

Now to answer some questions:
Coyote: Thanks for your interest. I have added you player #1 if I ever get this game going Very Happy Just to let you know I have been testbedding the conditions of the game I posted earlier and I have desided that I will stick with a Medium Galaxy rather than small, though the density will determine how agressive players may want to be. 1st game ought to be a rough house game then a little more relaxed as the storyline progresses (kinda like the big bang! Laughing )

BlueTurbit: You have no IDEA how many people ask me if I ever wanted to get into writing novels. At the moment, no. I have much more fun giving headakes to those who don't like to read, but also type intensly extravagant storylines and game ideas for those who get past the scrolling and headake! Laughing

Jeffmix: Well Jeffmix, if it seems to complex, come up with a race that you want to just stick with for the rest of the storyline. Have that race very absent minded and bent on war with minimal diplomacy or thinking. That way, all you have to worry about is causing havoc and disruption across the cosmos. Still heavy roleplaying but in an extreme form of it. After the first game I plan on being a mindless Tech Monger whos only goal is to expand and gain as much power and tech as possilbe! Just for fun. Best econ to do that is to play a -f race in any game you play, that is if you wish to play in any of my games.

As far as the AR. AR is a unique style of race and I would sugest using that PRT later on in the storyline. Though if you wish to play AR I would suggest you stick with the AR but rather than changing your PRT obtain "underling" races that must play as your ally for the first 50 years of the game and afterwords can decide if they wish to rebel or not. Of course if you wish to change your PRT go with a -f race design. Keep in mind that you can only go one LRT at a time, for example you can't go from ARM to OBRM in one "evolution" but rather go from ARM, then Basic RM (No boxes Checked) and then OBRM. So if you plan on Changing your PRT, keep your AR with only basic Remote miners and have cheap electronics tech to get those better remote miners early. Then when you change your PRT go with only basic remote mining and better factories. Also if you expand, AR don't have to take the low starting pop anytime they expand, as they are energy based life forms and merely have to instaniously teleport to their destination. Personally I would like to play AR soon and try to give it my piece of mind strategy wise. Since they are a unique style of race they will be treated as such. Thank you for bring that up though, I will work on a seperate style of expansion rules for this PRT now that I know of the problem.

As far as the story line goes there will be no more than 3 games playing at a time, if not two. There is an exception, for example if there ends up being a Host's Circle, each host would be responsible for holding different games. Some hosts would maybey prefer hosting RPG style games based on tiny galaxies or star clusters, while others maybey into Huge Maps and Long games with Galaxy Clumping and AccBBS Play.

As far as having ten games at once, I said I have a lot of free time, but not that much! Very Happy If players wish to join in a LOT of games, the time it will take for each gen will be the # of games present (that has the majority of players playing in each one simultaniously) and multiply by the following time Table:
For reference: M=Monday, T=Tuesday, W=Wednsday, U=Thursday, F=Friday (Weekends are not included porposely).
2400-2439: m/t/w/u/f (Eg. 1 a day)
2440-2469: m/w/f (Eg. 1 every 2 days)
2470-end: m/u (Eg. 1 every 3 days)

So to explain: If there where 2 games present and we all were in the 2nd "phase" (years 2440-2469) of the game, turns would be moved to the next level, every monday and thursday. If we where on the very last "phase" of the game then the game would only gen once a week. Keep in mind that if all players had turned in their turns the game would gen a

nym Okay. I think mebbe -F SS, that would be easy and fun, if not the most economically powerful race there is. When I think about it AR are kind of like transcended above bodies.... easy to think of ways to implement that kind of change in role playing terms...

Simple -F SS race, maybe high factory setting(production. cap) AND cost, so it'd be a very parasitic race. I think I'm interested in this game. You can put me on the players list. Maybe we hsould move this topic to the new games forum Razz

I'm probably gonna play AR and not change from AR. Mainly because I think this game would be perfect for learning how to play AR properly.

Greetings All,

FreekyBoy: Thanks for your intrest, and ask any questions you have, I will be more than happy to answer them!

Jeffmix: Thank you for the interest, I am sure you will enjoy the -f SS, even with the 100 Leftover points they can be VERY deadly in the right hands (I for one will be playing one in the second game!). Though keep in mind that a -f PP can be pretty painful as well...

Since there is some interest and there is enough for at least a tiny universe for players I will go ahead and post the Game up. Since I will not be playing I would ask that all players provide a passworded race file to me including the Password to my address.

Now before I post I will ask for a place on Autohost from Ron. Once I get confirmation on a place on the sight then I will go ahead and start posting the specs on the "Games Page".

Keep in mind the first game is going to be pretty crowded, though since there are a lot of questions for a AR based designs I won't make it TO crowded Very Happy That in mind the Game will most likely have the following picks:
Genesis Wars:
Map will be modified so that Every player has at least 22 planets (with 16 players the game settings would be Medium Dense). If there are enough requests for a long game with more RPing then I will set the Game settings to 33 planets per player (Medium Packed with 16 players), Distant Locals.

AccBBS Play, Random Events Enabled (there will be NO Public Players Scores).

Chaff/Split Fleet Dodge/0.2 Minimum Damage/and UR/CE/BET recycling allowed as long as there is some form of RPing involved. UR/CE/BET scrapping/recycling can be used, though to me it is a waste of race points, and in the second game will be more than happy to take care any such efforts! Twisted Evil

Race Design limitations:
Leftover Points in the Race Wizard According to PRT:
AR 50
SS/PP 100
WM/HE 125
SD 137
IT/IS 150
JOAT 175
CA 200
Race files will be examined Prior to game Generation. No pregame alliances are allowed. Winner is declared when all players vote that one player/alliance is considered an uncontrolable force.

Now before I ask Ron for any reservations I would like to get all questions out of the way and answered... like if it would be more ideal to go with Slow Tech and Larger Space for a more RP intensive game. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Take care all and best wishes,
Stalwart

You say that you want Leftover Points in the Race Wizard According to PRT:
AR 50
SS/PP 100
WM/HE 125
SD 137
IT/IS 150
JOAT 175
CA 200

And tell that you will play in the second game . Are there Played the same Races ? Who will check the Racefiles to have the Levtover Points ?
If you say for each player 22 Planets do you mean each player gets this planets or like normal play who kolonize them will keep them , if he can Twisted Evil

Greetings All,

Sorry for taking so long, my life is pretty busy but will come to being very dull here in the new future (I'm moving Very Happy )

Ccmaster: I have decided that I will not play in any of the games but rather will act as an "observant host". This way I can monitor race files and game interaction (in game messages, major battles... the usuall). I will of course ask players to notify me when an important battle is to happen so that I may keep track of it, and will not publisize the battle until a couple of years AFTER the battle is over to make sure that their isn't any disputes of "leaked" information (from the host that is Angel ). As far as the 22 planets per player, that is basically the result of the following Equation: #of_Stars_total/#of_Players

For instance a Medium Packed Universe has on average 540, devide that by the total amount of players is 16 which equals about 33 planets per player, make a Medium Dense and that drops it by 11 to 22 planets per player. Keep in mind that if there is ever less than 16 players I will multiply the #of_Players and the ratio all players have agreed on (which will most likely be 33 planets if we are looking for a generally long RP intense game).

Tech25: To answer your question the game will start once we have enough players who generally want to play, aranged in order of who asked first. As far as experienced players don't worry, the Power point system was designed to ballance out all the powers of each race and to provide a nice battle ground for all players. Keep in mind though that this IS a role playing game and diplomacy _should_ be a key factor. In other words, if you have an enemy who was extremely powerful one game, you can ally with others and unite to destroy the strong foe before it gets out of hand, and then finish the rest of the game acording to who is left after the battle.

Everybody Else: As for sending me an e-mail send it to LostShakir@nospam.yahoo.com just make sure to take out the "nospam" part when you e-mail me Very Happy

Thanks All,
Stalwart

RPG: Genesis Wars[ 10 votes ]
1. 33 Planets per Player/Slow Tech 4 / 40%
2. 22 Planets per player/Slow Tech 1 / 10%
3. 33 Planets Per Player/Norm Tech 2 / 20%
4. 22 Planets per Player/Norm Tech 2 / 20%
5. 16 Planets/player with Norm Tech (Blitz Style) 1 / 10%

Greetings All,

In the effort to make my job easier, I have come up with this poll to figure out what the majority of RP's would like to play in for the _first_ game. Handicaps are still on, and there will still be NO Public player scores.

I left the Blitz style game up for grabs because that was my original idea. The core of a Star Cluster tends to be crowded anyways and would make for an interesting game, though diplomacy would be hard on such a crowded galaxy. Twisted Evil This DOES give races in the first game a chance to understand if their race is what they want, and if it isn't die a quick death and either escape and colonize in a neighboring galaxy or try a new PRT all right from the start. The tech I thought would start slow and gradually gain speed as the rest of the Star Cluster was inhabited. A tiny Packed game with Slow tech would be interesting, and later on the second game would have normal tech but still have the race wizard points available to keep it from being TO fast. Then finally the Slow tech AND the Points would be removed and it would be free game from there... though the LSP penalty would be applied AFTER the points have been set up for the race. If LSP is part of your race in the first place you must redesign the race as if it didn't to the full penalty points and then have LSP added after the race is finished. I know this sounds confusing, but as host I will look over all passworded files before the game starts to eliminate any confusion.

Once I have an idea of what everybody would like I will set up the add. Though it will take a while for the add to get up I will take reservations for both players and additional hosts for the game who would like to help me out.

Thanks all and best wishes,
Stalwart

Greetings All,

To make things simple I will lay out the rules in one big statement:

For the first game all players must design a race that must have leftover points left over acording to the following:
AR 50
SS/PP 100
WM/HE 125
SD 137
IT/IS 150
JOAT 175
CA 200

These points will be verified by me, the host. There is going to be a plan for 16 players (hopefully) in the game. Host will NOT be playing (though would REALLY like to Very Happy ). RPing is a must for those who are in the game. I would like all race files to include a race description to be posted on the Web page once the game has started. The Race description can be as follows:
Quote:

Name:
Appearance:

Culture:

Racial Goals:

Type of Government:
Head of State:
Other Individuals:

Of course this can be leaniant, as a monsterous horde doesn't have a government but a mass of blood thirsty monsters bent on war. In that case, one could say their Racial goals is to devour everything and everything.

That out of the way, the first game is up for grabs as far as specs go. For those interested in a nice long game, The 33 planets a player with Slow tech and Handicaps will be enabled. Future games players have the option of having pre-aranged alliances, and I will be using seeds so players who are in the same alliance may be _somewhat_ close to each other.

Through-out the game players will have the option of changing their PRT or declaring a secondary player (if there is enough room for players) as an underling to command and control... though it will have a mind of its own. To make the players job easy I will more than likely just award points to players who are highly into RPing, players who are doing extremely well, and players who stick with the game even though they are not doing very well.

As the game progresses, each new galaxy will have an extra "bonus" to speed the game along. This all depends on how the first game works out, so I will get into this after the game has been posted and is ready for launch.

Until then the only thing players have to worry about is setting up a race that they would like to improve over a number of games. The game will always be open for new players, though players who have been in the game previously have priority. There will be no more than two games going at once per host, so I will be taking "applications" for hosts Very Happy

If I have not made everything clear enough let me know and I will go into more detail of what I plan to do.

Thanks and best wishes,
Stalwart
