Would someone please host and create the map for the Big Fish game that is about to start soon?

The Universe Creator program allows for moving homeworlds in the north-south direction, but that program also requires a BMP showing the desired distribution of systems, and I do not know whether a "blank" BMP will preserve the original planet positions, so that program might not be appropriate for the purpose you have in mind.

An alternative to just moving homeworlds would be to create the universe for the game with a central cluster for the two big fish and a wide ring around that for the small fish. That would also even the field for the small fish, as they would not end up in a corner. I could create a universe like that, I have some experience with remapping from my "Wheel of Life" games (see here for a description of those games).

I could also try to place the players in a reasonable arrangement in a "normal" starfield, but that would give some of the small fish an advantage, as those closer to a corner would either have more expansion roo towards that corner, or they would be farther from the big fish, making it more difficult for the big fish to help them.

As for hosting the game, I would say that it should be hosted on Autohost, with me as the controlling host if I am creating the remapped game. I would of course need the race files and passwords of all players in order to could create and monitor the game.

Craebild,

Thank you very much, I accept your offer.

The only request I have as far as the map creation goes is that the Big Fish start 200 LY apart near the center of the map, and that all the other players start 244 LY away from the closest Big Fish, and as far apart from each other as space allows. If you have the skill to make the planet distribution between the players fair that's great, but I don't expect you to spend hours trying to make it perfect.

I will have the 7-8 players send you their race files by Friday the 23rd.

Once again, thanks.

Shameless plug:

If you just want to move the home worlds, the map2xy program is probably easier, open the game, dump a .map file, edit it, and then run map2xy and the edits will be put back into the .xy file.

It's downloadable from http://starsautohost.org/kn2050.htm
