Red Rover, Red Rover!

For those that do not know, i will explain this childhood game. Two groups stand at the opposite sides of a field/room. Each person in the group holds the hands of their neighbors to form a line. They alternate calling members of the opposing team by singing "Red rover, red rover... send Yoey over!" At this point the person called has to run across the room and attempt to break between 2 people of the opposite team. If Yoey managed to break through, he would choose a member of that team and they would both go back to Yoey's original team. If Yoey failed to break through, he had to join the team that called him over. And the war of attrition ensued!
Many a childhood injuries occur playing this game! But it IS fun. One of the basic strategies is that you position your Weaker members between stronger players, so that there is not a "weak" point between 2 softer members. Stars Application:

Team Red Rover Red Rover!
One beginner and one non-beginner on each team
2 or 4 teams of 2 members each
Team-members can coordinate races pre-game.
Small Normal for 4 players, Medium Dense for 8 players, Remapped
Accelerated BBS
No Cheats. Chaff and Split Fleet are allowed.
Each team will be positioned on a wall. The more experienced players will be along the wall, and the beginner further out towards the middle of the map.
Winning conditions: Be the last team to still own more than 1/2 of your Wall! Or all other teams conceding.

And this is where i would like some input. The concept I would like to promote is a fun learning environment for less experienced players while providing some challenge for the more experienced players. The team as a whole needs to protect its wall while attempting to take control of the enemies' walls.

In keeping with concept, I was considering limiting the more advanced players from using CA/JOAT, or even limiting the number of planets that they can inhabit (for instance limiting to no more than 1 in 8 in the race wizard). This would ensure that the success was a Team effort and that the beginners would be playing a significant part in the victory!

Coordinating Races, growth strategies, PRT abilities, and battle plans are all part of this package. If enough people were interested, perhaps even doing a random team groupings (before race creation of course) from a pool of 4 beginners/non-beginners.

Sounds like a fun concept - I'd definitely ban CA altogether and handicap JOAT though.

Though we often ask how and why, we must also do to get the answers to the questions.
