All freight movement banned

A slight problem has been detected in the cargo holds of all ships. The cargo disappears at a rapid rate of depression. We have found the cause of the problem. A plague! Yes, our evaluation team is good, no? This plague, however, only affects colonists and minerals. All other cargo is safe, including firearms, alcohol and tobacco products. Also hallucinogens and SpaceGirly magazines have made it to destination points. All minerals and colonists however have disappeared between start and end waypoints. Of course you can still cram as many passengers and minerals as you can into your battleships and they will survive. Closets and pantries stuffed with clothes and panties, yes. Cargo holds no.

So, does this only affect ships that are moving or all ships with cargo?

Ships in orbit are not affected unless they leave the planet.

Dunno? We don't make the plagues, we just enforce them. If the ships don't move then there is no cargo movement, we suppose. What part of movement does this Hani race not understand? "move" or "ment" Smug Very Happy

All Shadallstorm ships use relative (local) coordinate systems!

Scientists working for the Shadallstorm peace emporium have discovered a problem in the current plague! As all of the ships in the Shadallstorm fleets use relative coordinate systems they are always stationary relative to their coordinate system and it is simply the universe that moves relative to them. Therefor, how could they possibly be accused of moving minerals or colonists when they are always stationary and the universe simply moves relative to them?

Our team has researched this data and... Not!
You should fire all your scientists immediately. The universe doesn't move. The planets and the stars move, but the universe stays in the same space today and yesterday and tomorrow.
As to relative coordinate systems. Avoid relatives or any advice they give you about moving.
If one ship heads in a western direction and the other heads in an eastern direction and two more head north and south and none is moving, surely you beings don't believe that the universe is moving in four directions at the same time? And if the ships aren't moving then why did you bother to put engines on them? Eh?

So no matter how you look at it, the plague will still get you.
