Hi guys,

I haven't posted here in like a year or two, but I'm poking my head back in because right now I'm trying to build an engine in Flash to handle all kinds of games. It occured to me that a web-browser embedded version of Stars! would rock pretty hard. Could use PHP for turn submissions, etc. Since Stars! is pretty lightweight on the presentation side, it would make a great game to start on to get all of my basic UI components throughly tested out.

I know that in the course of min/maxing strategies in Stars!, pretty much all of the guts of the game's math has been worked out. My question is, is there a single location where I can find all of this, or am I going to have to hunt around for scattered bits of info?

Really sorry if this is covered somewhere. I don't really have much time outside of work to check around for it.

Thanks,
- Andrew

Most stars! features and events have complex mathematics behind them.

For list of basic features take the order of events in stars...
http://starsautohost.org/sahforum/index.php?t=msg&th=238 6&start=0&rid=250&S=2f853a2e399d3e299a377bed23d3 6f87

Then start filling it.
Everything is (at least partially) described in its manual (sometimes incorrectly). For rest of it you got to hunt around. Some detail is always missing in anything you find.

Check http://www.starsfaq.com/ for some guts.

Download SB Poseys spreadsheet (actually other stars! related spreadsheets you find may be also useful Poseys is the biggest).

for the ones who you still miss ...
search HW Forum and search rec.games.computer.stars.

If still insufficent then post your questions into most relevant thread about the feature you found here, someone may know or have theory. Happy hunting! Wink
