Since we will not play on AH using our modified .exe, I thought I'd open up a thread for transwarp III here (hope you don't mind, Ron err Admiral).
We will start in about 2 weeks time, so you better get your testbeds ready. We will be using VML v1.1a which will be available for my players to download a few days before public announcement on my website. Latest tweaks feature adding general purpose slots to bigger stations as well as corrections concerning the graphics and a change in race emblems (we played every one of these meanwhile, didn't we? I hope you like the idea of getting something new).
On this thread I'd like my players to post their experiences with VML during design or play, write about changes they like or when they discover a flaw. May well be we experience one or the other small bug (I hope the big ones are sorted out meanwhile).
To get things going, I'd like somebody to tell us what he's expecting from this modded game in particular (or from certain changes) and what his so far favorites in shipdesign (using the modified hulls ofc) are.
Finally, I'll ask a Q about the game setup: it seems we will most likely be a minimum of 15 players, may well be I find that last one. While the game was advertised as medium normal, I won't go large normal without players consensus - but 16 in a medium normal slow tech seems quite crowded from my POV. So, want to have a poll or what (yes, voting here allowed)?

Well,
I'm hoping that starbases will now player a much better part in battles. Such a big thing as them, and they currently don't do much considering that they get cheaper components when being designed.
I've always hated chaff. Ideally in a battle viewer you should be able to give orders to attack "The most strongest ships", "Weakest Ships", etc
Another problem I find with stars! is that once your race is established, and is churning out hundreds of thousands of resources and minerals, you can easily build up extremely massive fleets. This I would highly doubt would be possible if we had the technology to build real "spaceships".
After all, at the moment for us on Earth, it takes years to build a probe to send to our neighbouring planets.
OK, enough of "Real Life", let's get back into Stars! before I'm accused of Heresy!

player #2 Bret (Joat)
player #3 Christoph (IT)

player #11 Leslie (WM)
player #12 Matthijs (CA)
player #13 Mike (IT)
player #14 Sheetzam (IS)
player #15 Steve (AR)
player #16 Stuart (AR)
If anybody should happen to be unhappy with his PRT, mail me ASAP. I'll see what I can do (may trade my PP )
Host will play, so password your racefiles! Racefiles due to Wednesday February 19th, game start (first turn gen) planned for Monday February 24th, 8pm hosts time (CET=GMT+1 AFAIK).
Reminder:
Universe: large, normal, slowtech, accbbs, clumping. HWs with about 50% Ger concentration.
Winner: by common consensus. From turn 100, there'll be a galactic council every 20 turns (2500, 2520, ...). One HW, one vote. The player getting more than 66.67% of the votes is the winner. An alliance can only win, if they agree on one player to vote for (and he meets the majority). If all players (left) agree on one player at any time (after 2450), the game ends at that point.
Shedule: Mo-Fr (5 a week), turns due to 5pm hosts time (CET=GMT+1 AFAIK). For the 1st turn, I'll wait until everybody has submitted to assure all can get their turns in. Until 2420, I'll generate 2 turns every time to get things going. So you will want to give orders for 2 turns until 2420.
Rules: No pre-game alliances, no cheats (but chaff allowed). Players that drop out are expected to either find a replacement in time or supply the host with their password, in order to enable him to find a replacement or "initiate a revolt".
Host volunteering for PP reserves the right to keep at least 1 world until the game ends. If host is left with 1 world, he'll declare his race neutral. At that point he will only build scouts for the rest of the game and all other players have to set the hosts race to "friend" immediately.
