Early on I detected that our homeworlds were uncomfortable close and attempted communications with the Hand. They were sending armed ships into my territory. They refused to respond so we could set up a border. Instead they started a colony closer to my homeworld than it is to theirs. I have since asked them to evacuate, and once again they refused. Now they have sent a large number of warships into my territory and I am forced to respond. May the Force have pity on us both.

To the Hand: If I provide proof that the colony in dispute is closer to my homeworld than yours, will you remove it?

No offense to the Stardazers but what gies you the right to the world? Even if it is closer?

Did either you or the hand agree to a defined border? Did you own the planet? What claims have you upon the planet?

If you had no agreement and you never owned the planet then you should have claimed it and made the Hand aware of this. Even if you did claim it then what makes you think for a second anyone should respect this claim? At the end of the day the Hand got the planet, the Hand have the planet and until you either A: make an offer that is beneficial to the hand or B: force them to leave I wouldn't expect them to leave.

If I colonised a world that was nearer to someone else and no border had been agreed, and that the planet was uncolonised before I arrived I wouldn't leave it in any hurry.

And no amount of name calling and dirt throwing would make me leave a planet I have every right to own.

If the Star dazers and the Hand come to an agreement then thats good. But the stardazers are pulling muscle they don't have.

If the Hand accept the star dazer suggestion of leaving if the planet is closer to the dazer HW and a 3rd party is required to verify the distance I will happily do so as I have many scouts in the area. But I doubt the Hand will leave - they have no reason to.

No, No, None. As I stated before; I tried but was unable to establish communication. I merely perceive this planet, being so close to my homeworld, as a threat and was hoping to reach an agreement whereby they would relocate.

I'm confused, what name calling and dirt throwing?

The inability to establish communication should have been taken as defensively hostile and as such you should have tried to protect what you wanted. Don't wait for a reply - make sure you get one.

Name calling and dirt throwing was a general statement, although the arguement as to armed ships (or unarmed) of the Hand being used against the Dazers. The hand claim they don't have armed ships in the area and the dazers claim they do. Theres alot of people in the game saying this that and the other about who is destroying what and colonising what they shouldn't, etc...

It gets you nowhere and only causes people like me to ignore everything said and then take all messages from both parties with a pinch of salt. Hence I'm happy to be far away from all of this.

In accordance with Treaty Obligations and because depredations suffered at the Hand of Quiik, the Blobovian Hemogy Declares War on the Hand of Quiik.
The Minister of War respectfully requests all neutral shipping to leave war zone as soon as possible. Unannouced armed ships approching Blobovian Spacefleets or planets will be treated as hostiles by Blobovian Armed Forces. Quiikian Planets are to be considered blockaded. Any ships approaching Quiikian planets will be labeled as hostile.

HAND OF QUIIK GOVERNMENT COLLAPSES, EMPEROR EXILED BY SUCCEEDING FACTION!
Zoid Faction Seizes Control Of Capitol, Cabinet Officers & Interstellar Diplomats Under Arrest Pending Investigations.

Under the weight of much civil unrest and outspoken criticism at home and abroad, and possibly hastened by the ambitions of another rising political faction with a new vision for the empire, the Emperor fled the Quiik capitol city of Vilnius yesterday. There is widespread speculation on whether the emperor's sudden flight from the seat of power was caused by his own apprehensions of rioting that has recently erupted, terror regarding recent forbidden (yet nonetheless whispered) rumors of interstellar war, or merely a coupe de tat by a recent upstart political faction known as The Zoid. For what it's worth, Darnell, spokesman for the succeeding faction said "What happened yesterday doesn't matter. What matters is what's happening today, and what's happening tomorrow. The Zoid intends to implement many changes to our currently unpleasant situations both here and abroad", gesturing into the evening sky.

When asked about the governmental branches of the new admistration, Darnell skirted the issue but said "The former cabinet and diplomatic officers have been arrested, pending investigation into the charges of gross incompetence and neglect. As you know, there have been many rumors of war. Rumors of our young men and women being secretly deployed God only knows where and so far never returning. Rumors of outlying Quiik colonies being utterly destroyed. What nobody has been hearing is, "why?" What is happening to these people who disappear never to be seen again, in the prime of their lives? Why do the reports of razed Quiik colonies in the space frontier keep surfacing? And why does the government try so hard to quell them? Why, if we are indeed at war, has there been no corresponding investment into military resources? These are some of the questions we want answered, and believe me, with the aid of our leading military men and women we're going to get to the bottom of this.

When asked about future political elections Darnell bristled, saying "There will be no elections. The Zoid faction has taken the reigns of power, and mark my words, you're going to find things much better from now on. We've got some good people that are going to fill those jobs to serve the empire. Quiik doesn't need fat, slothful, silver-tongued lying politicians feeding on the backs of Quiiks working populace. It has never been done that way here, and it never will be done that way here. A benevolent dictatorship is much better, believe me."

This reporter believes one can only swallow whatever misgivings they might have, and hope.

The Stardazer council held an emergency meeting this morning in response to more colonizers coming through the wormhole. To address the problem they council formed the WormHole Defense Team.
Two minutes later...
The WDT feels that our previous belief that ships were being sucked into the wormhole by accident is unfounded. This can lead to only one conclusion; alien races are using the wormhole as a freeway to colonize in the heart of StarDazer territory. Therefore, all ships coming through the wormhole will be considered hostile and intercepted.

After reading the intergalactic news reports about the Stardazers intentions to consider all ships using the wormhole as hostile, Shadallark (non-apathetic civilian of the Shadallstorms) scratched his head and wondered:
Quote:

Does this mean that the Stardazer scouts and other ships passing out of the other end of the wormhole are to be considered hostile? I shall have to suggest to the ruling body that they send some ships out to investigate this matter.

The scratching of heads is definitely warranted. I consider all ships (except my allies) to be either actively hostile (warships, etc.) or passively hostile (scouts, etc.). Depending on a variety of circumstances (race PRT, ship location, distance from borders, early/mid/late game, trading possibilities, etc.) I may allow passively hostile ships in my territory, but may also impose limitations. It all depends on the situation.

Shadallark, please let me know what your ruling council decides.

2039 Wednesday Thriller

Well folks, here is another inside scoop from your ace reporter. One of my informed sources told me that there was to be a closed cabinet meeting and the PM was going to address the Ministers and invited guests on the war situation. So, I started a campaign to be included in the guest list. As luck would have it, I got an invite. So, with reluctant approval from the PM's office, here are some excerpts from the speech.

(PM) "rounded up several agents provocateur. In their possession were several documents detailing plans to affect the up coming votes on the defence treaties with our neighbors. It appears that these henchmen of the Quiikean Empire were to bribe or discredit several selected leaders of the Pro-Treaty block. At the request of intelligence organizations and in light of the afore mentioned information, I agreed to background investigations for each Minister and top staff officers. Both Pro and Anti treaty members were investigated. I am glad to say that only 4 individuals were implicated and subsequently arrested. All arrested individuals will be placed on trial and if found guilty they will be shot as spies. The Quiikean agents are guilty of espionage and will be dealt with by ...."

He further states:
(pm) " ... treaty obligations. We entered into each of these obligations knowing full well our responsibilities to each signatory of each treaty. I expect each Blob to vote according to his/her conscience, unencumbered by outside foreign influence."

What does this mean? Seems that the Quiikean Government was attempting to get us to attack our neighbors. And the PM got a wiff of it. Hee hee, Bad Quiikeans, attempting to foment indecision in the government. Yes, he whupped 'em like he was their daddy. He also reminded us of our treaty obligations.
And speaking of Duties; don't forget to buy war bonds. Each bond helps put a fighting ship into space.

The Hand Of Quiik Capitol Gazette

The Hand Of Quiik Empire Is Much Outgunned By The Star Dazers,

who currently field a force of Jihad-equipped cruisers and Colloidal-Sapper cruisers. Frankly, the Hand of Quiik has little chance of affecting the Star Dazers, who threaten the very existance of every galactic race save one, without outside help. Direct participation in the war opposing the Star Dazers would be nice, but if you're a little faint of heart and don't want to risk your immediate future as the Hand is, you can still support the war effort to oppose your number one enemy with donations.

We accept cash, jewelry, property, boats, cars, space vessels, minerals and tech donations. Remember, all donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE! Serve yourself while serving your galactic community, through your charitable donations to the Hand of Quiik Salvation Army.

SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE ANTI-STAR DAZER FACTIONS! THEY'RE WORKING FOR YOU!

I currently have no plans to attack the Hand of Quiik. I have merely destroyed ships that entered my territory without a properly authorized flight plan and defended a colony from their invasion force. I have not attacked their planets.
P.S. - You may want to check your Public Player Score table. The era of capital ships has just begun.

Races Scramble To Meet The First Mystery Trader

Throughout the universe, chaos erupts as a previously unknown race offers to provide technological advances for a paltry 5 Million Tons of minerals. Races are scrambling to put together enough ships and minerals on this lottery ticket. Will it be a winner? Which race will be the first to find out?

Network Trouble Causes Disruption Across Mancuvian Empire!

The Greater Mancuvian Empire continues to be struck by network corruption. The latest in a series was the worst yet, leading to a surface review of critical hardware sectors. This has led to the discovery that a vital piece that drives the communications has potential for imminent failure across all planets. Government officials are taking bids on contracts to replace the component, but limited financial options do to the defensesive buildup for protection from the Harlequin Horde there is no definitive date for the replacement of these parts.

Now that the cause is known, Mic Kulz has issued an apology to the Quiik Empire.

"Sorry about that little war, guess it was our fault after all Embarassed "

Shadallrangers announce their ruler's personality has SPLIT!

In a surprise news cast from the capital of the Shadallrangers' empire it was announced today that the leader of the Shadallrangers has cracked under the pressure of completing a thesis and his personality has split!

Soon after this announcement was made the ruler of the Shadallrangers made this announcement over the planetary megaphone:
Quote:

I hate everything to do with electronics, therefore all races that use anything electronic shall be eradicated! (We will be eradicated last)

After these surprise announcements today we tried to get a feel for what the general public thought of their ruler's personality splitting!
"Youth"

Dude, I never thought the ruler had that much of a personality to begin with, so... like... now that his has split, left, vanished, or whatever maybe we can get this stuff legalized. Crazy

"Old Lady"

I think that the ruler's new war-mongering personality is merely trying to compensate for his other inadequacies!

"General of the Space Fleet"

YES!

"Environmentalist"

All I can say is that maybe this will get rid of some of the population so that the fuzzy animals can have their land back. HECK NO, WE SHOULD GO! HECK NO, WE SHOULD GO! HECK...

As you can see the responses to the announcement that the ruler's personality has split does not seem to be causing too much panic here at the home world. Over the coming years we shall let you know what colonists at the border worlds are saying.

Stay tuned for more on this slowly breaking news story!
