I have already submitted my turn then think of something else I wanted to do, can I just upload the new .x file and it replaces the one I sent previously?

As long as you get it in before the turn generates you sure can! I often do this as I receive new information from my allies and want to change what I had some of my ships doing.

Just remember that there is an odd bug in JRC3 (unknown if occurs in JRC4) that happens when you do multiple Save & Submit's on the same turn. When the turn gens, your turn is basically ignored. Because of this, I recommend that players who want to change their turn, delete their .x file from their local computer, and replay their turn from scratch.

Do you mean that doing multiple Save & Submits locally before I send my turn in can cause problems? Shocked

If I remember the bug correctly this works...

load your turn
delete the .x file (on your computer)
make your changes
save and submit
upload new .x file

I just finished redoing my turn, but it looks like if I use your method I won't have to remember all the orders and re-enter them back in. Thanks for the info. Smile

edit: FYI, I noticed the file size was smaller, but I think I got all the same orders put back in so it should be okay. When I refreshed the game page I also saw that the time next to my green diamond changed for receipt verification. I must say I'm impressed with the SAH site (and this one). It's fast (important for me since I only have a dial-up), functional, and there's no popup ads! Cool . Way to go Ron and any others who helped set this great site up.

Thanks for the warning about the re-saving bug everyone.

I have been doing multiple save and submits without any trouble (using 2.7j RC3) for just over a year, but now that I know of this bug I am sure that it will strike me down. Wink

Thank you! Andre Noel and I designed the SAH website to download fast. Small graphics, no fancy stuff.

I don't like ads of any kind. The only thing we've ever asked for over the years is for people who enjoy using AutoHost to send postcards. Since May of 1997, we've received around 81 postcards. Donations, naturally, are also accepted, but we've only had 3. That's normal, I guess, from folks who are used to playing for free for so long. Smile

But tempted to donate £1 to Ron - just so he can claim 4 donations. Just think if we all donated a pound how happy ron would be!!!

I would consider sending Ron a pound cake. That should make him happy, since it will cost me about two more pounds to ship the damn thing. Very Happy Twisted Evil Very Happy
