If somebody had a starbase on the target planet... would we know it? Would the color coded map on the Autohost page display it?

Isn't that the whole point of that grid on the game homepage?

It had better be the case, I want to see everybody's shock when starbases appear for me at H2SO4, Dog House, Zippy and Aries for year 2430. Smile

Assuming I have a scan there... and assuming it is a starbase of sufficient value to warrant a vc... they will be displayed... however, according to the original def. on the years, 2430, 2440, 2450 etc... will be the years when wins will take place.

Therefore it is possible for a player to actually hold, say on 2435 a line of (H2SO4, Dog House, Shaggy Dog) but not win, because when 2440 rolls around he has lost one or more vc planet.

Yes, I'd say shock would definitely be the expression on my mug for that.

Ever wonder about the equation for [mass of packet]*[warp speed]+[new colony]=?

Now there's a puzzle for ya! Wink

So what do the little eyes by Aries and Shaggy Dog mean?

No trees were harmed in the making of this sig. However, many electrons were terribly inconvenienced

I'm wondering... should the GNN be doing more?

I could provide information on colonized Target Worlds, or on non-vc (platform, dock) constructions on said worlds.

I could also provide misinformation and predictions... based upon what I see.

???

I wanted to say something like that... but... then I thought I am giving information to players that isn't in the vc's... you know... a minefield at xxx for example, which could seriously change a players strategy. Anyway, one strike i'll accept... but I really want you guys to set me as a friend. ... please Grin

In that case, dear host, maybe put some extra shielding/armor on your scouts Wink
In case of a detonating MF, it doesn't matter if you're friend or foe, your ships get blown up!
Maybe the scouts should be in pairs and both in and out of MF's...
But luckily everybody has set you to friend, so you can gate your scouts to our worlds (still have all the passwords I presume?).

The welcoming committee is already waiting a few decades on my HW Wink

Chuckle... I'm well aware of the danger of exploding minefields... perhaps a warning through email might be appropriate.

I am upgrading, remember, I am researching using the resources of one planet, I have a more effective hull now... just waiting on the elec.

Doubling and trebling will happen, once I can afford to Wink

One thing I decided long ago was to forgo the gate, it opens up the east to anybody who tries Wink

You could always negotiate with each player for permission to colonize a planet in their sector. The agreement would have to be that you will vacate the planet if any player desires it (after all, you're a neutral observer), but in the meantime you can benefit from the resource production and better observing.

Just a thought anyhew.
