It would be very nice to play stars on such a portable device.
Any idea?

Sadly no... There was talk of it a couple of months ago, but that primarily focused on remote desktop apps.
I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.Report message to a moderator

It is possible to use an application such as phonemypc from an Android to play the game hosted on your pc. But it is very awkward and uses a lot of data. I played one turn last year while cycling in France but it cost $20 in charges!
Afternote: I didn't actually play the game while on my bike - it was hard enough sitting down in my tent.
There are other remote control apps you can get to access a PC remotely but phonemypc was the one I chose. Entering any text was almost impossible IIRC. You could only control the cursor.

Asuming it's a 32-bit version, yes you could. Comes from a man sitting on exact same configuration.

the same applies to a 64 bit machine too.
takes about 700 mb of downloading and 20 mins of installing two programs and a 3gb vm to do the trick.
It's easier than it sounds.

Win8 does run stars. LittleEddie got it working, but there were a few issues.

OK - I've spent £2.29 and got Stars! running on my Nexus7.
Thanks to gible for the pointers....
First of all install "DosBox Turbo" and "DosBox Manager" as linked above (DosBox itself cost £2.29 at the time of writing, the Manager is free)
Then download the http://wiki.starsautohost.org/files/DOSBoxStars.rar and expand to somewhere on your SD card (or emulated storage)
NB - I had to download it to a PC, extract it and zip it for transfer - the rar didn't get expanded properly on the device
Then open DosBox Manager, add a new profile and "Edit Config", "DosBox Settings" (Advanced DosBox configuration), "Autoexec" (Edit autoexec.bat) and put in the following:
mount c: /storage/emulated/0/DOSBox/DOSBoxC
c:
windows\win /n c:\stars\stars.exe -x
exit
where /storage/emulated/0/DOSBox/DOSBoxC is where you have extracted the above rar...
Add your Stars! serial and you're golden.
This is going to revolutionise my ability to keep a game around...

This is an old thread - should I put any effort into making it work with recent tablets?
Any experience out there?

iPad will never work, Android does as mentioned above...
I would mention Windows tablets but RT is a lost cause and 8 is a pain to use, but Stars friendly
